N.C. State Penalized 15 Yards for‘Giving Him the Business’ Links6
Thanks to commenter Elisabeth for providing video of the hilarious penalty call from today’s Maryland game: I’m not sure where you’d find the section in the rulebook regarding giving others the business, but there is precedent for making such a call. [link]

“Giving Him the Business”, 15 yard Penalty on NC State?, Ron Cherry, video
Published 11/26/2007 by Ethanator1088 at SEC Football Blogger
An NC State player was penalized 15 yards for “giving him the business”. I sure am glad I stick to SEC football. I can not follow all of these rules form the ACC. In all seriousness, that is a funny call from a no nonsense ref named Ron Cherry. I thought it was very cool. I bet those players watched their mouthes the rest of the game. ... . Thanks for visiting! HAHAHAHAHAHA! This has got to be the call of the year. ACC Official Ron Cherry gives a descriptive reason why he called a penalty in the 11/24/07 game between the Maryland Terrapins and the NC State Wolfpack. Hilarious. Thanks to Mr. Irrelevant for puttin me up on this one. Check out the video. Ron Cherry was probably trying to pay homage to the original business giver. In a game in the 80s featuring the Jets vs the Bills Mark Gastineau was the Ref. and he said the same thing. Great call. Check this one out. ...

Best Referee Penalty Call Ever
Published 11/26/2007 by Larry Brown at Larry Brown Sports
We’re all pretty familiar with the dissertations Ed Hochuli gives when handing out penalties. And when it comes to cinema, the description from Necessary Roughness was pretty tight. But as far as real life football goes, this might just be the best penalty call EVA: Thanks to the Brothers, Mottram of Mr. Irrelevant. I am somewhat alarmed, as this referee may have jacked the line! Share/Email This

This has already been everywhere, but it deserves a sport here as well. This is Referee Walt Cherry explaining a personal foul during the MD-NC State game on Saturday. Enjoy! Found at Mister Irrelevant, but thanks for everyone who emailed this in.

Great referee call, or the greatest referee call?
Published 11/26/2007 by PostmanE at The Postmen // A Sports Blog // Chicago, IL.
This was everywhere yesterday, but since the Postmen don’t do any Postmening (not actually an action verb, unless R and I are talking to each other) on the weekend, here it is. It’s the business, by now ubiquitous, but no less funny a day later. {HT: Mr. Irrelevant} Tag: The Business

After a day of football and beer, I've come to the realization that we need a college football coach sumo wrestling playoffs. Forget the real football playoffs, this is what the people need.
