Gilbert Guarantees Victory Against Big Three’s Celtics
Published 9/29/2007 by Tim at Mind Rite Sports -- Quality, diverse sports coverage
Gilbert Arenas is goofy, smart and entertaining as hell. Oh yeah, and he happens to be a great ball player. On his latest blog post , he references the time leading up to his draft day when he felt like the Celtics owner trashed him. Now, he plots revenge in the form of a bold prediction: Oh man, everybody is jumping on this Celtics band wagon. You know what? I was going to go prediction-free for the whole year, but I guess I’m going to break that now. Now, if anybody remembers back when I got drafted, I got a report back that the reason I dropped so far in the draft was that Jim O’Brien of the Celtics said that I was too immature and that I wasn’t ready for the NBA. What really happened was that I had an Achilles injury and I went back to L.A. to go get it healed when I was supposed to have a two-day workout in Boston with O’Brien. He didn’t like that. So word came back to me that he was trashing me and it put this kn ...

... Free Agent Jackpot: Apparently, Gilbert Arenas isn't that impressed by the Celtics' offseason moves. In fact, he's predicting imminent doom when the Wizards travel to Boston for the C's home opener. That's because Washington countered the Kevin Garnette / Ray Allen acquisitions by signing their own "Little Three": The pitifully ancient and herertofore retired Tony Massenburg, Jamon Gordon (who?), and Willie Deane (who??). ...

Gilbert Backing Off His Bold Prediction
Published 11/2/2007 at CelticsBlog
... When I said we were going to beat the Celtics on November 2, was that really a prediction? I don t think I wanted to say, Hey, we re going to play Boston and we re going to lose! Agent Zero is coming in the building. I m back. I know all you Boston fans are going to want to go to see Kevin Garnett, but y all are going to see him 41 games. You re only going to see me twice! Me and my handsome self. I got a fresh cut for the Boston and Indiana fans. Break out the Arenas jerseys. I m coming to town. I mean, when you look at that Celtics team, that s a powerful team on paper. Once those guys get going, you re in trouble. You can t guard that team on paper. You still have to play the games. But with Kevin Garnett, the way he s playing, you ve seen some of the stats. He hit a triple-double once and he was one rebound and one assist away from a triple-double the game before that. So once them guys get their niche, ...

Wizards Game 2 at Boston: Big 3 vs. Big 3
Published 11/3/2007 by truthaboutit at truthaboutit.net
... Lot of scuttlebutt on Arena’s Sept. 28th prediction via his blog – that the Celtics would go down to the Wizards on opening night. Part of me wonders if he does these things for his own benefit, sort of a motivation technique that presses him to live up to the expectations he sets for himself. Then again, Gil has made his career on exceeding the Zero expectations set for him by others (at least that’s how he perceives it). So which is it? Is he setting the bar for himself high or low? ...

Washington Wizards Get Tough?
Published 4/10/2008 by JC at Stet Sports Blog
... The injuries are still happening, but the team is playing well. The team is still heading into the playoffs, but other players are playing to full potential. And most of all, the Wizards are beating people that they aren't supposed to beat, like tonight's home defeat of the Boston Celtics. I mean seriously, the Wizards are the only squad that can claim three victories over Kevin Garnett and the Celtics, and that now everybody that thought Gilbert Arenas was crazy with that early season prediction have to consider the wisdom of a man who damn near burned off his ...
