The NBA has instructed the Mavericks to re-open the team's home locker room to properly credentialed full-time bloggers who were banned earlier this month. Bloggers, including The Dallas Morning News ' Tim MacMahon, again will be allowed locker room access when the team returns to American Airlines Center for Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Almost a Victory for Bloggers in Dallas
ESPN.com - TrueHoop — ... grateful. However, it's not all good news. There's one crazy little caveat, which is a little hard to believe. As these discussions have unfolded, a few people suggested to me that if the NBA were to force Mark Cuban to allow bloggers in the locker room, Cuban would then let dozens and dozens of bloggers in, just to make a mockery of the policy. Each time I heard that theory I said there was no way. That was just too outlandish. I was wrong. Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News writes: ...

Ballin’: David Stern Shows Bloggers Some Love
The Big Lead — ... Denver 118, Dallas 105: The Mavericks were blitzed 58-35 in the second half and now are just 1/2 a game ahead of the Warriors and one game ahead of the Nuggets in the contest for the 7th playoff spot in the West. You know they won’t be able to hold onto it. Will Cuban show mercy on Avery because of Dirk’s injury, or will it get ugly? And don’t you just love how the NBA stepped in and told Mark Cuban that he must open his locker room to bloggers? Priceless quote from Cubes: “…We will encourage all ...

We Rite Goode — ... surgery or understanding legal torts. Besides, plenty of reporters are awful writers and many columnists are annoyingly bombastic--it's just all ironed out by the newsroom, thanks to editors' rewrites and organizations' limits on what they can cover and argue. Really, reporters only have three things that bloggers don't: Access, editors, and consequences. But access--long the biggest barrier to legitimacy--isn't a problem in Dallas, thanks to Mark Cuban's decision to allow " all bloggers " to apply for Mavericks media credentials...regardless of age, affiliation, or experience. ...

Breaking News: MSM Still Pissed We Exist
Hardwood Paroxysm — Deadspin pointed out that the Associated Press Sports Editors are ticked that Cuban went back on his word. Because, clearly, there needs to be a huge separation. I could not possibly be on the same level as Jay Mariotti or a kid that joins at 21 as a beat reporter out of college. We started off mad as hell at Cuban. Now we find ourselves torn. We're so confused. Who's side are we on, anyway?

Basketbawful — ... Mark Cuban: The NBA finally stepped in and ended Cuban's one-billionaire war against the blogging menace. Never one to be shown up, Cuban has officially opened up the Dallas locker room to everybody. And I really do mean everybody. "We will encourage all bloggers to apply [for press credentials], whether they be someone on blogspot who has been posting for a couple weeks, kids blogging for their middle school Web site or those that work for big companies. We won't discriminate at all." Oh, that Mark Cuban is so wiley and clever! I bet...wait, ...

Michael Wilbon Just Doesn’t Understand
Mr. Irrelevant, a D.C. Sports Blog From the Brothers Mottram — ... Because of the actions of one specific blogger (not himself), Mark Cuban recently banned all bloggers from the Mavericks’ locker room. David Stern made Cuban lift the ban, primarily because the blogger in question is a reporter for the Dallas Morning News, which led Cuban to declare that anyone with a blog now has access to the Mavs, finally leading to this informed debate between Messrs Kornheiser and Wilbon: ...

An Open Letter to NBA Bloggers on Mark Cuban's New Policy
hardwoodparoxysm.blogspot.com 3/28/2008 — Cuban decided if he was going to get so much grief for a restrictive policy, he'd reverse it. On the surface, this seems like some type of petulant, "Fine!
