broysox Absolutely a class act. His priority in family just makes me even more grateful that I've got one who cares, too.

chone I really still can't believe this news. TV personalities are ephemeral and replaceable, but Russert was one of a kind. All I know to say now is that there's a picture in the hallways of my college (in Boston) that shows Russert and Bill Russell getting honorary doctorates, and it's always brought a smile to my face. RIP.

rmcc4444 Very sad but what does this have to do with sports?

And One One of the most revered journalists on the political front, Russert, a senior vice president at NBC and head of the network's overall Washington operations, was also known as a rabid sports fan.
A native of Buffalo, Russert was a loyal follower of the Buffalo Bills, often openly rooting for the organization during on-air appearances.

... Forgive me for getting somber for a moment, but I'd like to note the passing of Tim Russert, someone whose work I've admired for a very long time. (And judging from all the photos and clips I'm seeing on TV right now, he was a huge baseball fan.) As an aspiring journalist, I always thought it would be great if just once, I could nail a guy with a question the way Russert did to politicians all the time. And if I loved my job as much as he seemed to, I must be doing okay. I can't imagine a Sunday morning (or election coverage) ...
