Add Some Mayo to Your Scandal?
Published 5/13/2008 by The GM at Arin It Out
... Who would have guessed? OJ Mayo has been accused of accepting cash and gifts while attending school. Alright, if you didn't see this coming, raise your hands. C'mon, get em up high in the air. If you didn't see anything dirty surrounding a kid that wanted to go to school at USC because of the "marketing exposure" he could receive while in school, then I have some prime beach front property in Antarctica that I'd like to sell you. Mayo is accused of accepting around $30,000 and gifts from a "friend" by the name of Rodney Guillory. That ...

... why Norm Stewart didn't personally suffer for Jevon Crudup, so on and so forth.
Likewise, it's why Floyd won't get fired for Mayo.
And it's why USC won't get hammered by the NCAA the way some might expect.
Lack of institutional control?
I doubt it.
Lack of genuinely wanting to know?
Now that's a charge that just might stick.
NCAA for their part is opening an investigation. Try not to LOL when you read this in the LA Times :
In its own statement to The Times today, the NCAA said the ...

... prominent commentator calling for sanctions, including the so-called "death penalty." The criticism of USC intensified as it was reported that Guillory was given largely unfettered access to Mayo and the athletic department, after a highly unusual recruitment process, despite USC knowing of his involvement with agents, including a prior scandal with USC's Jeff Trepagnier, for many years. The Pac-10 and the NCAA have launched investigations. Developing.
There are additional allegations ...
