Gagner edged New York Rangers center Brandon Dubinsky (6-5--11 in 12 games), Phoenix Coyotes center Peter Mueller (4-7--11 in 14 games), Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (3-7--10 in 10 games) and Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price (5-2-0, 2.33 goals-against average, .925 save percentage, one shutout) for the award.

Well, the Skittles and root beer will surely flow freely in the rookie house tonight, as Oilers teen angel Sam Gagner has been named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for February . February! It's like two Family Days in one year! Anyhow, Gagner racked up three goals and 10 assists in 12 games to edge out the Rangers' Brandon Dubinsky (12 GP, 6-5-11), the Coyotes' Peter Mueller (14 GP, 4-7-11) the Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews (10 GP, 3-7-10) and Canadiens goaltender Carey Price (5-2-0, 2.33 GAA, .925 sv%, 1 SO) for the award. Excelsior, young man! I think we can all agree this calls for a little Deniece Williams.
