The Mets announced this morning they have dismissed manager Willie Randolph and named bench coach Jerry Manuel their interim manager. Pitching coach Rick Peterson and first base coach Tom Nieto have also been relieved of their coaching duties.

Mets management pulled a Robert Irsay and fired Willie Randolph while most of New York was asleep (early this morning).
Last September, I expressed how sorry I was to see a great Yankee have such tough times in the Land of the Mets. Today, nothing has changed. While I cannot comment as to whether or not Willow did a good job as manager there - as I do not watch Mets games that closely - I do feel (from watching some news clips) that Randolph kept trying to keep his chin up and be both a man and a pro during the tough times.
