... In the end, Jerry Jones could decide to go in another direction. He could opt to swing for the fences and pursue the recently-resigned Steelers coach Bill Cowher or try to engineer a trade for Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. He could turn to former Falcons head coach Jim Mora, whom the Seattle Seahawks hired over the weekend as their assistant head coach. And Jones might even turn to the college ranks to a coach such as LSU's Les Miles, Arkansas' Houston Nutt or Oklahoma's Bob Stoops.

... Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is expected to conduct an exhaustive, comprehensive coaching search that could wind up bringing the dynamic duo of Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and former Cowboys quarterback Jason Garrett to Dallas, NFL sources said Monday. Of the many ideas Jones is considering -- and he will stop at nothing to ensure the continued success of his franchise -- one is hiring Phillips as his head coach and Garrett as his offensive coordinator/head-coach-in training.
