NFL Events: Draft Player Profiles - Chris Long Links13
Overview Overview Regarded by many as one of the most dominant defensive players in college football entering his senior season, Long more than lived up to those expectations, terrorizing opposing quarterbacks to the tune of 14 sacks, 23 pressures, nine pass break-ups and an interception in 2007. He also caused a pair of fumbles on sacks that Virginia recovered, leading to Cavaliers scores. ... [link]

Jets, Rams Considering Trade
Published 4/22/2008 by Gary Grund at JetsCentral
According to John Clayton of ESPN Insider, the Rams and Jets have exchanged trade ideas about swapping first-round picks. Although, Clayton’s report has a typo in it. The Jets do not have the number four overall pick, but rather the sixth overall pick. I’m not entirely sure what the Jets intentions would be to move up to the six hole, whether it be to get Vernon Gholston, Matt Ryan, Darren McFadden or Chris Long. If we hear any thing more on this, we’ll post it. ...

The Vikings own the 17th, 73rd and 82nd draft picks. The Vikings have a contract and trade agreement in place. This could impact the draft immensely. The Chiefs could look to go defensive end now at No. 5 overall with Vernon Gholston or Chris Long. Update 12:22 a.m. - The Chiefs have acquired the 17th overall pick and both of the ...

Ryan To Falcons, McFadden To Raiders?
Published 4/26/2008 by Gary Grund at JetsCentral
Giving the beat writers an extra three hours to find the inside info on the draft is not the best idea the NFL has had. So, far we’ve heard Chris Long to the Rams, Matt Ryan to the Falcons, and now the Oakland Raiders will select Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, according to Michael Smith at ESPN.com.

With the 22nd pick, Dallas will probably make its selection somewhere around 5 p.m. Here is the draft order of the first round, which I will update as teams make their picks. 1 (1) Miami Dolphins: Jake Long, T, Michigan. Jets Select Vernon Gholston #6 Overall
Published 4/26/2008 by Pietro DiSante at JetsCentral
With Darren McFadden, Matt Ryan, and Chris Long off the board, the Jets had an easy choice at #6 overall, selecting DE Vernon Gholston from Ohio State. I love this pick by the Jets. I had wanted Gholston in Green and White for quite awhile, so I am glad he was their pick. Selecting Gholston was also great, because he was not selected by New England, which is something that I feared. Gholston will likely play outside linebacker for the Jets. I expect him to start immediately, and likely place Bryan Thomas ...

NFL Rookie Prop Bets Are Out

... award. Do they know something we don't? Sure he's probably going to start, but that certainly does not guarantee success in Detroit. They haven't had a good running back there since Barry Sanders. Also surprising is that Matt Forte, the 44th pick in the draft has 13-1 odds to win, ahead of Chris Johnson, the 24th pick, who is at 18-1. They must not think highly of the RB situation in Tennessee. At Defensive Rookie of the Year the odds makers are liking Chris Long at 4-1 odds. Long is followed by Vernon Gholston at 5-1, Derrick ...
