According to John Clayton of ESPN Insider, the Rams and Jets have exchanged trade ideas about swapping first-round picks. Although, Clayton’s report has a typo in it. The Jets do not have the number four overall pick, but rather the sixth overall pick. I’m not entirely sure what the Jets intentions would be to move up to the six hole, whether it be to get Vernon Gholston, Matt Ryan, Darren McFadden or Chris Long. According to the Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Chiefs have traded defensive end Jared Allen to the Minnesota Vikings for a first and third-round pick. The Vikings own the 17th, 73rd and 82nd draft picks. The Vikings have a contract and trade agreement in place. This could impact the draft immensely. With Darren McFadden, Matt Ryan, and Chris Long off the board, the Jets had an easy choice at #6 overall, selecting DE Vernon Gholston from Ohio State. I love this pick by the Jets. I had wanted Gholston in Green and White for quite awhile, so I am glad he was their pick. Selecting Gholston was also great, because he was not selected by New England, which is something that I feared. Gholston will likely play outside linebacker for the Jets.
