Previously, many churches canceled Super Bowl parties because they were afraid they'd get sued by the NFL. Not so anymore. From the Washington Post: In a statement, Hatch said he was grateful that the ...

NFL CHANGES CHURCH POLICY
ProFootballTalk.com — ... 55 inches.  In response, the NFL explained its position and stuck to its guns.  The story died before the opening kickoff of the NFL title game in Miami. What a difference a year makes. The story surfaced again prior to Super Bowl XLII between the Giants and the Pats.  This time around, however, the media exposure and, apparently, the ensuing pressure from Congress caused the league to cave. In a letter to Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Commissioner Roger Goodell promised to allow “ live showings — regardless of screen size — of the Super Bowl ” by religious organizations. The ...

Consumption of bread and wine to increase at Super Bowl parties
JoeSportsFan.com — Thanks to Senator Orrin Hatch and some protesters, the NFL will allow churches to host Super Bowl parties with screens in excess of 55 inches.  Prior to the decision, the league actually maintained the stance that showing the Super Bowl on a screen larger than 55 inches represents copyright infringement.  ...
