Hanging out with the dregs of the NFL for a couple of years teaches you many things as a fan. The beloved Brownies have sucked since their rebirth in 1999. Does 4-12 or 3-13 or 5-11 sound familiar anybody? It does if you're a Lions, Cardinals or Raiders fan. And sadly, it sounds very familiar to Browns fans. Now that the Browns have opened free agency with big trades and signings.....Cleveland Browns Poised for Failure

The guys at Waiting For Next Year take a long look at the role Browns owner Randy Lerner has played in the Browns' march toward relevance. Can you imagine what would've happened if Lerner picked John Collins over Phil Savage? I'm usually pretty skeptical about a team that makes a ton of moves in free agency, but the Browns have made wise choices. Just ask Al Haynesworth. He's asking Titans ...Let's Make a Deal

Phil Savage has become adept at pursuing and landing premium free agents, but prior to this season Savage had never been forced to retain one of the Browns’ own big ticket free agents. Savage re-upped with star running back Jamal Lewis a week before free agency’s onset, and leading up to free agency the big question for the Browns was starting quarterback Derek Anderson. Mixed signals were ...The Browns Just Signed Me For $10 Million A Year

If you’re looking for that instance in free agency that screams “overpaid!” — well, you may have found it. The Browns, short of defensive stars, wanted to make a splash, and did so with a 350 pound overpaid, over weight, and overrated defensive tackle named Shaun Rogers . In the world of the NFL where if you underachieve you get rewarded handsomley Shaun Rogers is the latest reciepiant of a questionable contract. Don’t get me wrong here I really like what the Browns have done so far in free agency but, Rogers has yet to play a down for them and has been inconsistent in his NFL career. Now that the first few days of free agency have passed, it’s finally time to take a step back and take a breather and see the landscape of the NFL and what teams have done over the past four days. It’s been amazing to see how some players that are downright average secure deals that make your head spin. Only for a visit, though. Arizona LB Darryl Blackstock will be visiting the Browns on Tuesday, and working out for the team on Wednesday. What’s good about Blackstock? Well, he is a linebacker (a position the Browns could definitely improve upon) who is well-versed in the 3-4 defense. Well, except for the Bengals 19-14 win thanks to four well placed interceptions by the league's newest multi-millionaire quarterback. Sorry, I had to throw that in there.
