David Tyree is the real hero in this game. That jump ball catch, on 3rd and 5 with less than 1:15, to go, thrown by a scrambling for his life Eli Manning and caught on his head with Rodney Harrison draped all over him was one of the best moments in Super Bowl history. That play set up, what proved to be, the winning touchdown of the game just four players later with ...FedEx Super Bowl spot tops

Congratulations to the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Their unrelenting defensive pressure, the winning touchdown drive engineered by MVP Eli Manning and that amazing clutch catch by David Tyree made this game one for the ages. Although I thought Joe Buck of Fox did solid work during Super Bowl XLII, I must agree with Awful Announcing and say that Marv Albert , who was calling the Super Bowl on the radio, did a better job than Buck of calling the instant classic Manning to Tyree play: Albert and Buck both noted that Eli Manning faced pressure at the start of the play and that David Tyree made a spectacular catch ...David Tyree's catch Sunday was quite impressive

Over the last couple days everyone's been looking for a name for The Play -- you know, The Play where Eli Manning miraculously eluded the Pats rush to heave a pass to David Tyree, who in turn made a miraculous catch on third and five. Examining Manning to Tyree , the play that changed the Super Bowl . It was extraordinary the way Giants wide receiver David Tyree leaped to catch Eli Manning 's last-minute pass at its highest point, but it was even more extraordinary that he kept the ball at its highest point: Rather than grabbing the ball with his hands and pulling it into his body, Tyree pressed the ball against his ...Eli Manning to David Tyree: Tyree Leaps

Examining Manning to Tyree , the play that changed the Super Bowl. There's an old adage in football that a receiver needs to try to catch the ball at its highest point. That's exactly what Giants wide receiver David Tyree did when he saw Eli Manning 's pass come his way in the middle of the field: He leapt into the air to grab the ball rather than waiting for it to come down to him. Everything has already been said and written about this year's New York Giants-New England Patriots Super Bowl, but I want to add my two cents anyway. I mentioned earlier that Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress had the biggest catch in recent Giants history (see above), but for me, David Tyree was the team's best wideout on Sunday night. "It was a fade route," Eli Manning said of the game-winning, 13-yard TD pass he threw to a wide-open Plaxico Burress with 35 seconds left to play in Super Bowl XLII. "They had been playing zone coverage. They came with an all-out blitz and the corner (Ellis Hobbs) sat, because he thought we might run something short. It was, without question, the play of the game.
