Apparently, The NHL Won't Stand for Sean Avery's Sloppy Seconds [Sean Avery]
Deadspin —
Well, that was quick. After Dallas Stars agitator Sean Avery made those charming comments about "sloppy seconds" this morning to TSN, the NHL suspended him indefinitely. So his valiant return to Canada against the Calgary Flames this evening will have to wait a little while longer. Just to recap, this is what Avery told the network on camera: "I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada. Sean Avery Suspended Indefinitely, Calls Dion Phaneuf’s Girlfriend "Sloppy Seconds"
Hockey Beat —
WOW. My son and I have been looking forward to the Calgary Flames versus Dallas Stars game tonight, mostly because we really like Stars goalie, Marty Turco despite the fact that the team is off to a really horrible start.
Of course, a lot of people were wondering how the league’s biggest jerk, Sean Avery (Dallas) was going to try to harrass Dion Phaneuf (Calgary) since Neufy is dating the jackass’ former girlfriend, Elisha Cuthbert. We didn’t even have to wait for the game to start since Avery ...

Sloppy Seconds Scandal: What Everyone Is Saying
The Power Play —
Sean Avery's sloppy seconds comments about Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf dating his ex-girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert were undoubtedly offensive, obnoxious, and vulgar. But the big question is do they warrant a suspension? Well it seems like everybody and their grandmother has an opinion on the matter. When I asked my grandma about it she just asked a lot of questions like, "Who's Sean Avery?" and "What's sloppy seconds?" Boy, was that an embarassing conversation. From Avery's teammates, to fellow NHLers and hockey insiders, here is what some are saying about the sloppy seconds scandal... Dion Phaneuf, the man ...

Rangers need ... something
New York Rangers Fan Blog —
We made our feelings known about what the team should do yesterday. The team certainly needs an infusion of ... something . Whether it's veteran savvy, pure talent, speed, or just a big body that will help, we don't know, but Tom Renney is starting at the most logical point there is for a hockey coach: his lines . Renney modified a little of everything, making his top line Naslund-Gomez-Zherdev. Zherdev gets a little promotion there to play with the big guns, and hopefully that will pay off. The second line of Korpikoski-Drury-Callahan provides speed, but the problem may be there -- that's not enough scoring punch for a second line. In 27 games, ...

The Sean Avery Suspension
Kuklas Korner —
I was away from anywhere that I could easily gather hockey news for a while yesterday. When I came online I saw a TSN story titled NHL Suspends Avery Indefinitely for Comments, Pending Hearing. The story is similar to this one although since TSN updates stories over time, it is now longer than the story I first read. My first thought was that the NHL is not usually in the business of suspending players for comments, so whatever he said must be awful. Not only was he suspended, it was an indefinite suspension, so I assumed there must be some profanity laden tirade. When I found out what he actually said, I was ...
