Nike Pulls Three Hyperdunk Ads
Published 23 days ago at FirstCuts
Last week, with some people worked up over a series of Nike ads, we posed the question: Are these Nike ads homophobic? Nike listened to those offended by the ads and has pulled three of the ads done by Wieden+Kennedy. Nike is strongly opposed to discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting athletes regardless of their sexual orientation. The advertisement in question is based purely upon a common insight from within the game of basketball - the athletic feat of dunking on the opposition, and is not intended to be offensive. ...

Nike Pulls Controversial Hyperdunk Ad

... associated with the words "Punks Jump Up," which True Hoop found to be associated with a 1992 rap song that contained a great deal of anti-gay lyrics. Is that enough evidence, however, to deem this inappropriate? Straight or gay, no one wants to get dunked on. Wrong or right, the best ads get the most attention and start a conversation. Mission accomplished, and perhaps this was the intended goal all along. As a response, Nike has issued this statement and dropped the Hyperdunk ads: Nike is ...

“The Reign Man” Shawn Kemp is slim, clean, and playing for Italy
Published 13 days ago by Anklesnap at thehoopdoctors.com
... Reign Man’ was coming out of retirement to play professionally in Italy I almost wet my pants. Along with the other high fliers of the day; such as Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkens, Spud Webb, etc., growing up Shawn Kemp was one of my favorite NBA superstars. The guy was an absolute beast. He was all about reigning down on cats in the lane. He basically invented dunking on a guy and giving him the bag sweat to the face. You know the type of dunk featured recently removed from the Nike Hyperdunk Ad’s due to the perceived ...

Team USA squashes Canda, Canadian currecy still worth more

U-S-A ! U-S-A ! U-S-A ? Team Nike USA didn't come for a Canadian Debate . They came to squash their over matched opponent, and they did. What does that mean? Not a whole lot, Canada didn't make the Olympics after all. The two best Canadian players (Nash and Dalembert), aren't even on the national team. It is safe to say the real tests for Team USA are still to come. In such a lopsided match ...
