Although the bigger issue is whether the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs can work out a deal for a trade of defensive end Jared Allen’s rights from the Chiefs to the Vikings, the Kansas City Star reports that the Vikes and Allen are close to an agreement as to the long-term deal that would be signed by the player if/when he’s wearing purple. And, as we heard on Sunday, the Vikings are likely to sign Allen to an offer sheet after the draft, if the Chiefs and the Vikings can’t work out the terms of a trade. ... According to the Kansas City Star, no terms could be hammered out between the Vikings and Jared Allen on his pay and the Chiefs and the Vikings also couldn't come up with a deal on trade value. Which I suppose is good news in a superficial way in that the Buccaneers still have a chance to land him. But if the first and third round picks that the Vikings are rumored to be offering aren't enough, and the team that was willing to pay whatever it took to get Steve Hutchinson a couple years ago isn't satisfying Jared's salary needs, ...
