TORONTO -- From the basement of his future in-laws' home, with an autographed portrait of Ernie Banks staring down at him, Kurt Evans bellies up to his computer, logs on to his Chicago Cubs blog and proclaims the unimaginable. "The whole idea of the blog is that the Cubs are going to win the ...

Big League Stew — ... by Sid Yiddish doesn't convince you all is not right in Wrigleyville these days, the chanting by his $2 Cockroach bandmate will. And just wait to see what we all look like once the postseason finally rolls around.  One more thought: What would you pay to see a conversation between Yoko and Lou Piniella? For a look at some more sane Cubs fans — though not by much — check out the new Eticket.

100 Year Itch - Chicago Cubs Blog — ... I know you guys have probably all seen the ESPN video about Cubs fans by now…but it got me thinking. Since 1908 only 22 teams have won the World Series…is this true. According to ...

My ESPN Experience
GoatRiders of the Apocalypse — ... By now many of you have probably seen the ESPN story.  On my part, it all happened rather inocuously - several months ago, Wayne Drehs EMailed the blog informing us that he was writing a piece about Cub fans and was looking for some unique stories about our passion for the team we follow.  I directed him immediately to one of our own, Rob Letterly, and also to another fan who's actually old enough to remember the last time the Cubs reached the World Series.  And for kicks, I sent him my own story as well.  (You'll be reading it tomorrow.) ...

The 35th Street Review — ... Across town at the other ballpark, they’re giving away skateboards and more Bobbleheads, and all this on the heels of American Girl drawings and Beanie Babies. One club celebrates our identities, while the other celebrates the crap our kids put on their shelves. “Chicago’s Team” has never been more insulting a nickname. ...

Big League Stew — ... rolls around. UPDATE: Just got an email from Mr. Yiddish and he says that's a ram's and not a yak horn. In addition, he's the one chanting falsetto while his bandmate is the one tooting away. I regret the error. One more thought: What would you pay to see a conversation between Yoko and Lou Piniella? Ivy Chat — ... Goat Rider Leader Kurt Evans is profiled by ESPN as a Cub fan representative of fans from the 1980's. Given that he was born in 1979, shouldn't he be disqualified on that basis?

Many many good things happened yesterday
GoatRiders of the Apocalypse — ... I cannot stress enough how major it is for Kurt to be featured on ESPN's "Outside The Lines".  If you think about it, there's what, seven, eight hundred Cubs blogs out there (or so it seems) and one from ours got singled out for this honor, and I feel perfectly fine with just typing out the word honor without having to quotate it.  For whatever reason, Kurt's feelings struck a genuine chord with Wayne Drehs, and maybe that's what our calling card here has become.  If you are a Kool-Aid drinking, rose-tinted shades wearing, ...

Why We Cheer: What It Means To Me To Be a Devoted Chicago Cubs Fan...
GoatRiders of the Apocalypse — It's almost impossible for me to put into words what it means to me to be a die-hard, lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. When I have attempted to put that meaning to writing in the past...some people have responded by calling me crazy.  Some have responded by saying that the Chicago Cubs are "trivial". They tell me the Cubs aren’t, in the grand scheme of things, that important to my life. They try to make me “understand” that I'm foolish to invest so much of myself in the success of a team that I have no “real” connection to. Because of my love for the Cubs, I've suffered through some of my darkest days.  I've endured insults.  I've ...

One More Sports Emmy Award Press Release
Fang's Bites — I have to give major props to NBC Sports, HBO and the fine people at the Emmy Awards for sending out press releases last night shortly after the Sports Emmys were handed out. NBC and HBO had real reason to crow for the amount of awards they received. Also, the Emmy's Twitter page was updated before and during the festivities. Today, we have one more press release, this one from ESPN regarding the Emmys that were received last night. ...
