No Tomlinson, No Rivers, No Problem
That is to say, no problem for the Chargers this afternoon as they upset the Indianapolis Colts. However, if San Diego goes into Foxboro next weekend without, or with a damaged LaDainian Tomlinson, Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates they're going to be in all kinds of trouble. Might as well go ahead and chalk up New England in the Super Bowl if you hadn't already done that after Week 9.

Shots Across The Bow, With Malice
With Malice - An LA Lakers blog, news and opinions — Lots going on in sports, especially Down Under, and lots of stuff happening with the big 3 US sports… time for some commentary. NFL - the NE Patriots have to be happy about the big favour San Diego did them. I had Indianapolis penciled in as the only team with an outside chance to beat New England. Does anyone really think that the Chargers can ...

San Diego’s Keys to Success Against Titans
nflgridirongab.com 1/6/2008 — OFFENSE They must take care of the Football. Mainly Philip Rivers, we saw in the Saturday Wild Card games how turnovers can kill a team’s playoff run. Big Ben and Todd Collins both turned the ball over too much on Saturday and it was the main reason they lost. Rivers has played OK of late with a QB rating over 100 in each of the final 3 games. But San Diego will be in trouble if ...

NFL Playoffs Open Thread: Chargers @ Colts
awfulannouncing.blogspot.com 1/13/2008 — Philip and NORV! are probably going to need one of these by halftime. Hi folks. Here's an open thread for Bolts-Colts, as you watch the douchebag Philip Rivers, LDT, and the greatness that is NORV! take on Peyton & Co. in the RCA Dome. (I think I've already made it very clear who I'm pulling for.) Your announcers today are the CBS 2nd team: Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf; while much ...
No LT? No Problem As Turner And Co. Highlight Chargers’ 28-24 Upset Of Colts
nflgridirongab.com 1/14/2008 — I think it is safe to assume the following: that the Indianapolis Colts will not repeat as Super Bowl Champions, and that the San Diego Chargers are a team that the New England Patriots better take very, very seriously. Even without running back LaDanian Tomlinson and quarterback Philip Rivers plus some stout pass rushing, the Chargers managed to find their way into the win column Sunday, upsettin
Colts-ChargersNaptown's Finest | An Indianapolis Colts Blog
I have been going over yesterdays game in my head since Reggie Wayne took that monster hit on the second to last play of the game, and as much as I want to I am not going to look for excuses on why they lost, or how big of a classless jerk Philip Rivers is, but I [...]
Chargers Bolt to AFC Title Game with 28-24 Win in IndyChargers Gab
Billy Volek came on for an injured Philip Rivers and plunged into the end-zone from one-yard out with under five minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Chargers shocked the defending Super Bowl champion Colts, 28-24, in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs. Michael Turner replaced an injured LaDainian Tomlinson and rushed for 71 yards for San Diego, which will face the unbeaten ...
Chargers, Rivers Advance to AFC ChampionshipStatefans Nation
Wow…This guy (or gal) has got to feel even more stupid today than he did when he wrote the following comments just a day after Philip Rivers threw for almost 300 yards and was 12-for-19 for 196 yards and a touchdown (128.6 rating) in the second half of the Chargers’ playoff win against the Tennessee [...]
Chargers Win in Indy: Nuts and BoltsBleacher Report
All week long, few gave the Chargers a chance. Indy’s defense was just too good. Peyton Manning would pick apart theChargers secondary. As the gameprogressed, Charger fans looked at their offense and found no LaDainian Tomlinson. No Philip Rivers. Still no Lorenzo Neal. A hobbled Antonio Gates playing athalf-speed through an obviously painful toe injury. All against one of the ...
San Diego Chargers: Rivers Needs to Get Used To WinningBleacher Report
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers. A bad attitude, that is for sure. Watching the San Diego Chargers at Indiannapolis Colts gave me bad memories of how Terrell Owens used to act on a regular basis. A cocky, bad sport. Rivers when walking off the field for his injury was jawing at Colts fans, giving them a piece of his mind because his team was on top and he could. Something the Owens of old ...
Chargers Headed To AFC ChampionshipNFL RUMORS
Even without LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers , the Chargers made sure the Indianapolis Colts won't repeat as Super Bowl champions. Now San Diego must make sure it doesn't repeat its last performance at New England. That will be especially difficult without an injured L.T., who departed in the first half with a bruised left knee, and starting quarterback Rivers, who went out in the ...
Trainers find load of douche in Phillip Rivers’ uniformThe Big Lead
It wasn’t a surprise that it was a 4 point game, but it was surprising that the Chargers won with no Philip Rivers and no LaDainian Tomlinson to close it out. Next week will be interesting, with Norvelous against Belichick. The Chargers will no doubt keep Week 2 of the regular season fresh in their mind. Philip Rivers needs to shut his fat mouth. If any other quarterback in the ...
Great Short Biography of Philip RiversStateFans Nation
Time to move along from the debacle yesterday in Chapel Hill. Today at 1pm, former Wolfpack QB Philip Rivers will lead his San Diego Chargers into Indianapolis to face the Colts in an AFC Divisional playoff game that will determine who gets to go to New England and face the Patriots for the right to go to the Super Bowl. Philip has taken some heat in his sophomore season as an NFL starter ...
Chargers Have Two Antonios Trying to Make It on the Field Against the ColtsFanHouse
Chargers tight end Antonio Gates will likely miss Sunday's AFC Divisional game against the Colts. That's big. Gates is quarterback Philip Rivers ' go-to option, as evidenced by his team-leading 75 receptions. (Of course, the second-leading receiver is running back LaDainian Tomlinson , which says as much about Rivers' inconsistencies this season as it does about Gates' and Tomlinson's ...
Bolts And Colts Clash In IndyColts Gab
After a rainy home triumph over the Titans, the Chargers head indoors to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Colts Sunday at the RCA Dome. The Bolts rallied from a 6-0 halftime deficit with 17 unanswered points to earn their first postseason win since January of 1995. Philip Rivers passed for 292 yards and the go-ahead touchdown as San Diego slipped past Vince Young and Tennessee 17-6 ...
What The Wildcard Winners Need To DoFootball Outsiders
ESPN’s DJ Gallo takes a look at the wildcard winners to see if any of them could follow in the footsteps of the Colts and Steelers. That’s right, Philip Rivers, keep being annoying — it distracts the defense.
Philip Rivers Is A ClownThe Smittblog
I'm really having a tough time finding things to like about this San Diego team. For me, the dislike of the Chargers started about a year ago when they lost to the Pats and then cried about it (literally). They then complained that the Pats "lacked class" because they made fun of resident roid rager Shawn Merriman's faggoty "lights out dance." Apparently they aren't familiar with the ...
Wrapping Up AFC Wild Card WeekendSportable.com
San Diego Chargers 17, Tennessee Titans 6: For being criticized all year, 2nd year starter Philip Rivers has sure played well the last few weeks. With LaDainian Tomlinson shut down for much of the afternoon, the Titans made Rivers beat them. He did just that, throwing for 292 yards and a touchdown. It wasn’t pretty, but the proverbial monkey that finally came off the Chargers’ ...
The Varying Success of the Quarterbacks of the 2004 NFL Draft, In PicturesDejuiced! Sports News with No Boundaries
Remarkably, Eli still has a shot to be the best of the bunch. However, with all this talk of yesterday’s game being his break-out performance, I fully expect a huge regression against the Cowboys. Also, even when Philip Rivers is happy, he looks angry. Relax a bit, dude. Share This
Snoozer of an NFL SundayThe Big Picture
Some things that might have been more entertaining than either of Sunday's playoff games: -playing Checkers with your dog -taking a perfect, one-wipe shit -making objects out of clouds -listening to Joe Buck call a city council meeting -local car commercials on loop On a related note, we fucking hate Philip Rivers. Lot of talk for a guy who isn't really an established stud yet. His arrogance ...
Time To Give Credit Where Credit Was EarnedBleacher Report
They didn't blow it.  They didn't implode.  They didn't shatter the dreams and hopes of their fans.  Neither one was particularly flashy.  Neither one would be considered dominant.  Neither had the kind of performance that makes one a legend of the game.  Hell...neither one did anything outside the realm of what should ...
Time To Give Credit Where Credit Is EarnedBleacher Report
The lead up to Wildcard Weekend was filled with more than a few um "questions" concerning the play of two young starting quarterbacks. Hearing the onslaught of doubts from both the fans and the media alike (including yours truly), one might have assumed Eli Manning and Philip Rivers had already lost the game for their respective teams before the games were even played. However, by ...
Go TitansBoston Brat
Has anyone else noticed that the new Macfarlane figurine of LaDainian Tomlinson showcases his epic pouting episodes on the bench? What I want to know is, will the next Philip Rivers Macfarlane also feature him sitting on the bench, only with a look of shock and lonliness after LT stomps away? There’s plenty more where this came from at bostonbrat Dot net If you liked this ...
5 Questions with SD Bolt ReportMusic City Miracles
Since the Chargers don't have enough fans to sell out a playoff game, nevermind have a blog here on the great SB Nation, I had to go outside of The Nation for this week's questions.  I sent Michael Lombardo of SDBoltRepot.com 5 questions about this week's wild card playoff game.
