The plans appear to involve a reality show that would be taped during the spring, looking at using featherweight, lightweight and middleweight fighters. No other details of the show are available, other then a loose idea of modeling it after “The Contender,” the boxing show the network recently dropped.

On the heels of the announcement that WEC is planning a 2009 reality show, Dave Meltzer is reporting that ESPN has also got a reality show of its own in the works with its eye on recently unemployed fighters from EliteXC at the top of their talent list.
The format is expected to be loosely modeled after “The Contender”, the reality boxing show that ESPN recently dropped from its lineup.
