Nuggets have to change - The Denver Post Links6
The math does not compute for the Nuggets. Somebody has to go. Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson and Marcus Camby are the team's big three. But they proved to be a big zero in the NBA playoffs. Convinced they must make a significant change to compete for a championship, it's no secret the Nuggets will actively pursue trade options. What's more significant, according to a source familiar with the ... [link]

... shunned shortcuts. He left the franchise stronger. The public didn't appreciate that. Those first three seasons, people kept asking me why this retread was coaching the team. They wanted somebody younger and fresher, I guess because in these Web-driven, instant-gratification times, if you're not new you're not happening. Sam Vincent was new as new gets. How'd that turn out? Bickerstaff did two jobs -- he was coach/general manager until last summer -- with wisdom and restraint." ...

Denver Interested In Lawson?
Published 5/9/2008 by Tar Heel Fan at Tar Heel Fan
... According to the Denver Post, he is on their radar: Denver will not stand pat. With a draft choice late in the first round, it’s believed the Nuggets are eyeing North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson. The team also is known to have recently scouted young European center Marc Gasol, currently property of the Memphis Grizzlies and a prospect who might be ready to emerge from the shadow of his big brother with the Lakers. Denver owns the 20th pick in the draft which would be enough to keep ...

Melo On The Block?
Published 5/9/2008 at CelticsBlog
Interesting speculation coming out of Denver these days: While the Nuggets have given no indication they will actively shop Anthony, the constant drama in the life of their 23-year-old forward has become the source of enough frustration within team headquarters that Denver would be willing to listen if somebody made a trade offer too good to refuse for Melo. The problem? In a league where stars such as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James dominate, it's difficult to come out ahead when trading a singular immense talent for any combination of players and draft picks. busy ...

Lawson to the Nuggets?

... Just when you couldn't get enough of the trio and whether or not they are going to go pro or they are just testing the waters for the next draft, here comes another small tidbit to stir up the "rumor mill" once more. Looking around the Internet for something juicy about 'Melo (since, remember, I do have an SU blog as well) I came across this article from the Denver Post. Looking around some more there is another article talking about this possibility, and from what I have seen there has been some buzz about this on the web boards regarding UNC. ...

Trade Carmelo?
Published 5/15/2008 at Hoffman's Blog
The New Jersey Nets have had exploratory trade talks with the Denver Nuggets about Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby. This comes a week after the Denver Post reported that no one on Denver’s roster is “untouchable.” With $81,696,590 on the books for next season, the Nuggets have the league’s 3rd highest payroll. Only $7 million less than the dastardly New York Knicks. That means owner Stan Kroenke will pay $44 million plus luxury taxes for a team that won 50 games but was dispatched in four games by the Los Angeles Lakers. ...

And So Begins The Offseason
Published 5/19/2008 by Amar Panchmatia at Cavalier Attitude
... Well, Carmelo Anthony, for one. Denver has not only lost in the first-round of the playoffs in each of Melo’s first five seasons in the league: they’ve been blown out and embarrassed. The Nuggets are 4-20 in the postseason in their Melo era, losing 4-1 to the Timberwolves, Spurs, Clippers (yes, the Clippers), and Spurs again before getting swept out altogether by the Lakers last month. ...

When is Enough, Enough?

You really have to feel for the Denver Nuggets franchise. Despite putting up the third largest combined salary in the NBA, they were the only team swept out of the first round. Denver owner E. NBA Playoffs - Series Insight: Lakers vs. Jazz

The Lakers were the only team to sweep their Round 1 opponent, doing away with the Denver Nuggets with relative ease. The Jazz needed 6 games to finish off Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets, but appeared to be in control of that entire series from start (winning the first two games in Houston) to finish. Deron Williams is definitely a key, but if the Jazz want to win, Carlos Boozer will have
