Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees lost to the Indianapolis Indians by a score of 5-1. Starting for Scranton was Dan Giese and he gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings of work for the loss but 3 of the runs he gave up were unearned because of a fielding error by shortstop Nick Green. Giese finished with 8 strikeouts. Replacing Giese to start the 8th inning was David Robertson and he gave up 2 runs on 1 hit but both runs were unearned because of a fielding error by third baseman Cody Ransom. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton were center fielder Brett Gardner and first baseman Jason Lane. Gardner went 0 for 2 with 1 run scored and 2 walks. Lane went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder lost to the Akron Aeros by a score of 3-1. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was George Kontos and he gave up 3 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings of work for the loss but two of the runs he gave up were unearned because of a fielding error by right fielder Jose Tabata. Kontos also had 8 strikeouts. J.B. Cox followed Kontos and pitched a perfect 8th inning. The hitting stars of the game for Trenton were short stop Ramiro Pena and first baseman Cody Ehlers. Pena went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and Ehlers went 1 for 4 with 1 rbi.

The Tampa Yankees lost to the Brevard County Manatees by a score of 5-1. Starting for Tampa was Grant Duff and he gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits in 4 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Duff to start the 5th inning was Stephen Artz and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 3 innings. Following Artz to start the 8th inning was Philip Bartleski and he gave up 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 1 inning. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa were really no one but short stop Luis Nunez scored on a fielding error in the first inning and he went 0 for 3 with 1 run scored. DH Andres Perez went 2 for 4.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs got destroyed by the Asheville Tourists by a score of 8-0. Starting for the RiverDogs was Dellin Betances and he gave up 7 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings for the loss but 2 of the runs he gave up were unearned because of a fielding error by second baseman Walter Ibarra. Replacing Betances to start the 5th inning was Craig Heyer and he gave up 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings but the run he gave up was unearned because of a throwing error by shortstop Carmen Angelini. Chace Vacek pitched a perfect 8th inning. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs were no one. When you don’t score any runs, you don’t get mentioned as a “hitting” star unless you get 2 or 3 hits and no one had multiple hits in this game.
