Off chance Giants could end up with Saints' first-rounder
Back in April the Giants were holding out for a first-round pick in return for Jeremy Shockey. And though it’s a longshot, they still could get one. That’s because the second-round pick that the Saints sent to the Giants as part of the Shockey trade could end up going to the Jets as part of the Jonathan Vilma deal. New York Giants — ... As Ralph Vacchiano originally reported on The Blue Screen the Giants have a shot at getting a 2010 first round pick from the Saints instead of the 2009 2nd rounder. If Jonathan Vilma plays 85% of the teams defensive plays and signs a contract extension during the season, (he’s going in to the last year of his rookie contract)  they would owe their 2009 2nd rounder to the New York Jets and then would have to give their 2010 first rounder to the Giants.
