Offense key to Purdue's second half comeback | www.jconline.com | Journal and Courier
Most football coaches believe they don't get an accurate read on their teams until after the third or fourth game of the season. Purdue's 16-3 loss Saturday at Ohio State was its sixth game. Since that game marked the halfway point of the 2008 season -- and it also signaled the end of a rough ...
UK-Arkansas poses dilemma for Cards fans | courier-journal | The Courier
courier-journal.com — Middle Tennessee State is no gimme for the University of Louisville football team Saturday. I'm talking about... a team that averaged more than 9 yards per carry against the Cardinals last season. But this morning, let's assume Louisville wins. On ... Called out
Hammer & Rails — It appears that I or my colleagues over at Boiled Sports have raised the collective ire of coach Joe Tiller. I wanted to touch on this briefly before getting to the Northwestern preview, but the following article was brought to my attention when prowling the GBI boards today. The basis of it is the following quote: "I think we could be 4-2," Purdue coach Joe Tiller said Tuesday. "I'm not sure, based on the team that we have right now, that we could be 6-0. I hesitate to say that because some blogger will say, well, he doesn't believe they can win, which indicates IQ to me, or lack thereof.” I ask, why aren’t you sure we could be 6-0. We’re ...

And the hits just keep on coming...
Boiled Sports — First off, thanks to our pal, Travis over at Off The Tracks for bringing this to our attention. Purdue's head coach continues his hypocritical talk this week in the Lafayette J & C. For years, Creampuff Joe has been telling us how he doesn't read the internet, doesn't pay attention to any of that, and that all people in the blogosphere and on message boards are "Knuckleheads" who "need to get a life." Now, he suddenly seems to read, if not take note of us, but only because of our lack of IQ. You know, Coach Tiller considers himself a bit of a savant, when it comes to psychology...he was a psych major, by the way. He understands the inner workings of the ...

courier-journal.com 10/29/2008 — LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Mike Hartline can accept that he won't be the University of Kentucky football team's starting quarterback when the Wildcats visit Mississippi State on Saturday. He can't accept all the blame for his demotion. "I'm disappointed. It ...
Hitting Rewind: Offense vs. Penn State
elevenwarriors.com 10/31/2008 — This makes me feel a little better One of the things that The Meshed One touched on Saturday night was the need for Ohio State to further diversify their offense — break out of some tendencies. A lot of us have been beating that same ...
Don’t Look Now…
waitingfornextyear.com 10/20/2008 — But the BCS rankings are out, and Ohio State is fifth (FIFTH!) in the computer poll. The fact that Penn State is seventh is a bit odd, but to be ninth overall at this point in the season is not bad. The Nation will obviously be pulling for Penn State this weekend just so Ohio State can’t ...

It's Only Cheating If You Get Caught
blackshoediaries.com 10/30/2008 — This is nice. Is that polyester? Hey, Beanie, feel this. One thing we all came out of Saturday night complaining about was the obvious holding calls the referees were ignoring all night. Even the Ohio State fans couldn't help but notice their guys ...
Buckeyes Should be Wary of Spartans
waitingfornextyear.com 10/13/2008 — At least in the circles I have, no Buckeyes fans have really been talking about the Michigan State Spartans. Everyone I know seems to jump straight ahead to the chance Ohio State has to make a name for themselves against Penn State on October 25th. This is a big mistake. Let’s hope

blackshoediaries.com 10/20/2008 — It's not supposed to be like this. Not after the way they embarrassed us in 1997. We were 7-0 and ranked #2 in the country. We had Curtis Enis and Joe Jurevicius and we were playing in our house. Nobody comes into Beaver Stadium and beats us ...

waitingfornextyear.com 10/29/2008 — This past Monday, Rick wrote a Buckeye recap that threw in the inquiry of whether Todd Boeckman should have been a part of this past Saturday’s loss to Penn State. In it, he questioned whether or not Boeckman would have given the Buckeyes a better shot at moving the ball down the field, ...
Fall of the Blue Empire
nittanywhiteout.com 10/16/2008 — Michigan is to blame. For global warming, for the financial crisis, for the death of the dinosaurs, but most importantly for the unprecedented Big Ten criticism we currently face. Why should we award Ohio State all the blame for the nation’s ...
Ohio State vs. Penn State Preview
aroundtheoval.com 10/25/2008 — I figured we ought to take a closer look at this weekend's game, seeing as all the pundits view it as a de facto Big Ten championship game. I'm not quite as sure of that (strange things tend to happen), but it is a big game, no question. So let's ...
