Something You Don't See Everyday
Double Extra Point - A Nebraska Cornhuskers Blog — An official scholarship letter from Nebraska. This particular one belongs to Tate Forcier , a QB prospect from San Diego. Tate has documented all of his offers on his website . Just thought it was pretty cool. Not nearly as cool, however, as the letters of interest I received from numerous small colleges in the midwest as a one-time high school tennis prospect.

The Courting of Tate Forcier
Hugging Harold Reynolds — ... this has happened seemingly forever in high school recruitment, and clearly Forcier isn't the lone recipient in this country, the thing that amazes me is that in this modern age of mass, instant and global communications, a 16-17 year old kid (whose bloodline includes current Standford and UCLA QBs) is exploited for hitting the DNA jackpot and inserted into the family hype machine. The aforementioned scholarship offer letters - for reasons and motives known only to his family were scanned and posted on their website. ...

Recruit Gets It All in Writing
The Wiz of Odds — ... Thus far, 21 letters have been posted and all but one — from first-year Washington State coach Paul Wulff — contain a legal disclaimer in case another player commits first. ...

No worries, check out this website with a bunch of samples of different offer letters from a few schools. Looks like the Gators were sticklers and made them take theirs down. ...

When scholarship offers aren't honored you can blame the system, not the coaches
Top Cheddar: sports, pop culture, and halfers — ... to do this to several athletes because of the system they are forced to work in that was instituted by the NCAA. The distance between when a student can receive an official scholarship offer (September 1st of their junior year) and when he can officially sign his letter of intent (the first Wednesday of February his senior year) is the primary reason why coaches get themselves into these situations in the first place. That's why they have to put disclaimers when they send out offers ( check out the fine print on any of Tate Forcier's offers from last year as evidence ) and why ...

A Viewing Guide to Step Up Saturday
The Sporting Blog — ... Michigan at Michigan State, noon. Tate Forcier's confidence-slash-audacity has so far been backed up by results, but the trip to East Lansing is, incredibly, Michigan's first road game of the year. Both defenses, put kindly, are offense-friendly, so Forcier may need to come through in the clutch again for the Wolverines, this time away from the Big House. ...

By The Way, Cornell Is Beating Stanford On Thursday
legendofcecilioguante.com 3/18/2008 — Okay I may have officially lost it, I'm convinced that Cornell will pull an opening round upset over Stanford in Anaheim on Thursday. I don't know if the fact that the program hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 1988 has altered my judgement, but I'm 99.9% sure of a Cornell victory. I was even able to find someone who agrees.
Was Maryland made to beat the Gophers?
fromthebarn.org 3/18/2008 — Match-ups trump talent. Minnesota, on paper, was a much better team than Illinois. The Gophers beat teams teams that Illinois could not, won more games, had a much better season, and still lost three times to the Illini. They lost to UNLV and Florida State, but in all likelihood could have beaten teams that handled the Seminoles and the Running Rebels. I bring these teams up, because if you ...
