Mayo and Love Switching Hats
Published 6/27/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (James) at SeaTown Sports
The TWolves going to get a whole Lotta Love. Minnesota gives up OJ Mayo, Marco Jaric, Antoine Walker and Greg Buckner for Kevin Love, Matt Miller, Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins in what is now the biggest draft day trade. Personally, I think that Minnesota is making a huge, huge mistake. OJ is a much better prospect than Love. Memphis fans should be ecstatic right now. ...

... eventually win a championship (duh), I can’t wait for the 92’ Finals rematch three years from now. MJ, I love you as much as anyone, but you are a gawd-awful GM. DJ Augustin got rick roll'd by Rose in the tourney, and The Big French Guy was the least productive player drafted maybe ever. I think he averaged three points, five rebounds, and two surrendered wars a game last season. Good luck with that guy, Larry Brown. This Minnesota-Memphis swap is retarded for the T-Wolves. McHale is like the Good Charlotte ...

When Mike D’Antoni coached the Phoenix Suns he gave the front office a the thumbs-down to drafting Lee because he felt that Lee wasn’t a good enough shooter. The Knicks had spoken to the Memphis Grizzlies about trading Lee and Malik Rose before the draft to acquire the fifth pick. 3. Finally, early Friday morning, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies put together a mega-deal , with Minnesota sending the draft rights to #3 pick OJ Mayo, Marko ...

... Was barely even known on draft night 2008. I just left Madison Square Garden, and that place was dead. Just about every single person had gone home, except the cleaning crew, and those few stragglers still hanging around were far from lively. But check that Blackberry one last time tonight, because it's Game On. ESPN's Chad Ford reports: Two league sources told ESPN.com that the Wolves have reached an agreement in principle with the Memphis Grizzlies that will send the draft rights of Mayo, Marko Jaric, ...

NBA Draft Update: Mayo and Love Part of Eight Player Trade

... , so there’s no “reportedly” about this one, I don’t think. [image] This is why they say not to get too deep into post draft analysis until the dust settles. The Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly agreed to a blockbuster deal - or as blockbuster a deal as two of the worst teams in the NBA can generate- centered around OJ Mayo and Kevin Love. Mayo, drafted by Minnesota with the third pick Thursday evening, will apparently be packaged with Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker, and Greg Buckner and sent to Memphis for the rights to Love, along with Mike Miller, ...
Let's Make a Deal: How Memphis Should React After the Mayo Trade
Published 6/27/2008 by Nate Jones (noreply@blogger.com) at JONES ON THE NBA
... I love this trade for Memphis. They got a guy that is going to be a very good NBA player and will fit in perfectly with their up tempo style of play. The only thing now is that they have to trade one of their point guards. Currently they have three (and if you count Mayo as a point they have four). They are in desperate need of power forward and center help. I think they should call up the Knicks and initiate a trade for David Lee. I would try and move Marco Jaric and Mike Conley to New York for David Lee and the expiring contract of Malik Rose. This would give the Knicks ...

Last night, I called it an evening shortly after the Cavaliers selected J.J. Hickson with the 19th pick. After all, it was really the only reason I was watching the draft in the first place - especially considering my hopes of "Mayo in Memphis" seemed to be in the rear view.
But in a move that surpasses that of the tooth fairy during my childhood, ESPN's Chad Ford leaves this note under my pillow:
Two league sources told ESPN.com that the Wolves have reached an ...

... Enough about my pitiful basketball exploits, however, and back to Citizen Pain. Cardinal was thrown in as part of deal between Minnesota and Memphis late last night that gave the Timberwolves some Love for holding the Mayo for awhile. I like how the two best players in this trade are guys who have yet to set foot on the court in the NBA. The remaining players are guys that get shuffled around for contract reasons like deck chairs on the Titanic. Cardinal is one of those deck chairs, sadly. Last season he made $5.85 million for 37 games of work on a craptacular Grizzlies team. ...
