38 Pitches: Schilling: One players take on the Mitchell Report, Canseco, Clemens, records As the late great Billy Welu used to say..."Trust is a must or your game is a bust.” So as a fan my thought is that Roger Clemens will find a way in short order to organize a legal team to guarantee a retraction of the allegations made, a public apology is made, and his name is completely cleared. Curt Schilling at his 38pitches.com blog goes on at length about the Mitchell Report and some of the players involved. The most interesting part is about Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds. I know both of these men. Roger had a profound effect on my career from a very early point. His undressing of me and lecture were a major turning point. I ve always respected his career accomplishments and regarded him as the greatest pitcher to ever play the game. Now I, like every other Yankee, Clemens fan am faced with a dilemma. All three of these guys I know, Andy not very much, but the other two I know very well. I played a few years with Gary, worked out at API and competed with Brian. It has to be frustrating to compete against these robots when you play the game the right way. Is Curt one of good guys? Well, I’d like to say yes, but baseball’s very own P.I., Jose Canseco, recently stated that Schilling lied to the infamous 1998 grand jury about being clean.
