With the true opening day for MLB being less than a week away (and it looks as if I'll be in attendance next Monday), it's well past time I started talking Detroit Tigers. Thing’s didn’t go quite like Justin Verlander had planned yet his outing was far from horrible. Verlander managed to rack up 6 K’s and had a only gave up his first hit in the fourth inning, a single to Billy Butler . He appeared very dominant and it’s hard to take anything negative from his outing. The weather held up as perfectly as you could imagine given the ...Your AL Central "Preview" [2008 Division Previews]

All right, well, the season has supposedly started, though rain on Opening Day has to be some sort of cruel trick from God. So let's wrap up the last division. 1. Detroit Tigers. We know the pitching is a bit of a mess, but man, we really just can't get past that lineup. 2. Cleveland Indians. It's amazing how they became the hot World Series pick right after Gammons started touting ...Game 1: Bullpen stumbles

Royals 5, Tigers 4 (11 innings) The Tigers (0-1) got ahead 3-0, but Justin Verlander began to weak and the bullpen’s inability to stem the bleeding coupled with the batters’ lack of timely hitting gave Detroit a second straight opening day loss. Quick recap: The Tiger got ahead 3-0 after an Edger Rentria RBI drove in Carlos Guillen in the second. In the third, the Tigers ...Detroit Tigers Opening Day Notes, Part I

I don’t really do game threads because there are others available . But I’d be remiss if I didn’t post in celebration of the weather in Detroit not being rainy as I enjoy the Tigers pregame show on FSN. Happy Opening Day, everyone! Here's an Opening Day tradition I had no idea existed before just perusing the AP photo wire ... The brother-in-law and myself will be dodging raindrops and sipping beers in downtown Detroit today. We'll be at the all but official state of Michigan holiday known as Tigers opening day! I'm not sure exactly where we'll be sitting, as the bro-in-law has flipped a pair of SRO tickets for a pair supposedly in the lower deck down one of the baselines. Opening Day 2008, and aside from NFL Draft Day, possibly my favorite day of the year. Everything is new and exciting and especially this year with the Detroit Tigers, with expectations so high and the ability to see such an incredible lineup with Miguel Cabrera, Edgar Renteria, and a healthy Gary Sheffield. So long as it doesn't rain of course. See, I will be at Comerica Park this afternoon ...Opening Day 2008
