It's official... Magic trade for Houston point guard Rafer Alston
Orlando Magic Blog — ... two games, with a brilliant 24/3 assist/turnover ratio. In his last five games, he is shooting a solid 12 of 26 from three point range. I would say that's better than anybody the Magic have as point guard right now, wouldn't you? With this trade, GM Otis Smith has shown he hasn't given up on the season, and he's provided the Magic with a solid backup at PG when Jameer Nelson returns next season. Polling GSoM: Baron Davis for Corey Maggette and Marcus Williams
Golden State Of Mind — Sure it was pretty amusing to see Chris Mullin's favorite trio of bigs- Ike Diogu (poor Sactown), Patrick O'Bryant, and Adonal Foyle - all get moved before this year's trading deadline, but this report from MT [Bay Area News Group] is what caught my eye: Once mentioned in the rumor mill, linked to players such as Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire and Toronto's Chris Bosh, the Warriors passed on the chance to alter their team. They even rejected the Los Angeles ...

Cook to Houston, while center Adonal Foyle, point guard Mike Wilks, and the Magic's 2009 first-round draft selection are headed to the Memphis Grizzlies, who in turn sent point guard Kyle Lowry to Houston. Alston will bolster a Magic point guard rotation that had been weakened by the loss of All-Star Jameer Nelson to season-ending shoulder surgery. And by "Magic point guard rotation," I mean Anthony Johnson. That's all there was. Enough preamble. You've read the news and analysis on this site, so let's see what other NBA scribes think about the deal from the ...

Tonight's Game: Orlando Magic at Charlotte Bobcats
Third Quarter Collapse — ... Quite honestly, I have nothing to say about the Orlando Magic's game against the Charlotte Bobcats tonight. They played three days ago, and although the Magic made a fairly significant trade yesterday by acquiring Rafer Alston (our analysis here), they did not surrender anyone of consequence, and I doubt Alston will be in uniform. As such, it's hard to expect anything to change from the previous game. Dwight Howard probably won't go for 45 points, 19 rebounds, and 8 blocks again, but he might. Maybe the Magic will enjoy a psychological boost, knowing that point guard help is on ...
