Almost done!
Redbird Ramblings —
... on a very sad note, looks like the jimmy baseball tracker I put up on the sidebar will go down soon (the problem isnt that I have not updated it in forever, or so I have convinced myself). jimmy baseball has been released by the padres after struggling all season defensively and offensively (hitting only .178). I really don’t know what to say. I did not know his demise was goin to come this soon. maybe because he is my favorite player of all time and I chose to be subjective and ignore it. if he is done, I hope the cardinals sign him to a one day deal, the ...
Era Ending? Edmonds Exits
C70 At The Bat —
The Padres have released Jim Edmonds. I don't think many of us really expected that when he was traded back in December. Sure, the contract was up at the end of 2008, but he should be able to put together the semblance of a decent year. Even last year, a down year by his standards, he stroked 12 homers and hit .250. Prior to the season, we had speculated that Edmonds would be a “boom-or-bust” addition to the Pads, and clearly, the organization already labeled him the latter. Edmonds was batting an abysmal .178/.265/.233 line prior to today. Admittedly, I am yet to see a San Diego game this year, but the article ...
Game 36 recap: Rockies 4, Padres 2
FriarBall —
We got the beginning of the wholesale changes we were promised this weekend and even combined with our Cy Young winner taking the hill, SD still couldn't find a way to win Friday night's game. Jim Edmonds has been released , Colt Morton has been optioned back to Portland and Jody Gerut and Luke Carlin will take their places as we are doing whatever we can to see if any offense exists on this year's squad. We also claimed left-hander Sean Henn off waivers from the Yankees and the latest news is Shawn Estes is the latest pitcher to occupy the No. 5 starter spot. We ...
