ESPN's Buster Olney has the latest on the Jake Peavy trade talks.

Time to pack the Riot gear
desipio.com —
The Jake Peavy to the Cubs rumors will not die, and today they took a turn for the interesting.
A source within the Padres organization claims that it’s “basically a done deal” (whatever basically means) that Peavy is headed to Chicago, and that the Cubs will send back Felix Pie, Sean Marshall and Ryan Theriot.
Is this one of those “I know a guy, who knows a guy” deals? Yes, that’s exactly what it is. So I have no idea if it’s true. All I can say is that the “source” is a guy who actually should know.
If he’s too be believed, sometime last night the Cubs and Padres agreed on the ...

Where Are They Going, Part III
Towel Drills: A Chicago Cubs Blog —
Positions of Need? Check. Players Available for Trade? Check. So, in Part III, let's look at the players the Cubs are rumored to be pursuing via trade. Jake Peavy-I don't know if you heard this rumor, but supposedly the Cubs are trying to acquire Jake Peavy from the Padres. Yeah, it was news to me too. I actually mentioned this rumor about a week ago, and I didn't think the Cubs had the prospects to make the deal. I still believe that to be the case, but it appears the Cubs are ready to do what is necessary to complete the deal. According to Buster Olney, the latest scenario has the Cubs trading Josh Vitters, their top ...
Peavy and Prospects on the Brain
ChicagoCubsOnline.com —
Another day and more rumors.... The Cubs are focused on acquiring Jake Peavy according to multiple reports and some are beginning to think if Jim Hendry fails to land Peavy, not only would he have lost out on one of his targets of the off-season but his pursuit of Peavy could end up costing the Cubs two of their own free agents....Ryan Dempster and Kerry Wood. Both Dempster and Wood appear headed for the open market while according to a report from Buster Olney, Hendry is trying to swing a three-team deal that would give the Padres the package they need for last year's Cy Young Award ...
Cubs introduce a third team into the Peavy trade talks
Gaslamp Ball —
Kevin Towers has said in recent interviews that he'd need proven big leaguers, impact players and a healthy supply of prospects in order to trade Jake Peavy. He also said that they want "pitching, pitching, pitching" in return.
Buster Olney is reporting that the Cubs are bringing a third team into talks with the Padres in order supply the Padres with the pitching that they desperately need. The Cubs don't have much pitching to deal.
I always assumed that the Padres would need, at very least, a proven or impact starting pitcher in the deal to fill out the rotation, but the deals with both the Braves and the Cubs only name position ...
Braves and Cubs are in serious talks about Jake Peavy....
Dom D's Mets Fan Blog —
The Braves and Cubs have been in serious trade talks with the Padres involving RHP Jake Peavy, according to Buster Olney of ESPN. The Braves and Padres have settled on two pieces of the package that Atlanta would send to San Diego, shortstop Yunel Escobar and outfield prospect Gorkys Hernandez. The Braves likely would include one of two young pitchers, either Charlie Morton or Jo-Jo Reyes. The two sides are at odds over the other pieces in the deal; the Padres are known to have interest in young pitcher Jeffrey Locke. The Cubs and Padres have talked about a deal built around Josh Vitters, the Cubs' top pick from 2007. But unlike the ...
Starting Pitcher: Mets lean in on Jake Peavy
MetsBlog.com —
According to Scott Miller of CBS Sports, the Braves are offering Yunel Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez, Blaine Boyer, and either Charlie Morton or Jo-Jo Reyes, and one of two minor-league left-handed pitchers, one of which is believed to be Jeff Locke.
In the report, Miller adds, “The Braves have been pressuring the Padres for an answer by Friday, when the free agent market opens, because they need at least two starters… They are expected to pursue A.J. Burnett, Ryan Dempster and others - sign maybe one if they acquire Peavy, and two if they don’t.”
Buster Olney wrote on Tuesday at ESPN.com that in ...
Should Jake Peavy be eager to waive his no-trade for the Braves?
Big League Stew —
I've always wondered how an agent or a player goes about waiving a no-trade clause. Is there some sort of green button enclosed in plastic? A "alpha-delta-omega-alpha"-type code that needs to be recited via walkie-talkie? A special phone that connects only to the GM so all the player has to do is say, "Yeah, just go ahead and waive that b****?" Whatever the case, Sportsline is reporting that the Padres and Braves are both hoping Jake Peavy will throw the process into motion so that the hot stove's earliest storyline can resolve itself before free agency opens at midnight tonight. As expected, Peavy would be headed to Hotlanta for ...
