I think Cano's just overrated.  He was never that good and now we're seeing more of the real Cano.  It was only a matter of time.  I don't think his mechanics changed any from his first two years to now.

I think the only likely situation is that he has changed his mechanics.  It is also possible that the loss of A-Rod and Posada has made it so that he's getting less pitches to hit, but he has to be doing something different to lose that much average.  By all accounts, he's a very solid hitter.

Cano will heat up.  He'll be fine. Carlos Pena - he's another matter. He's going to be a .250, 30 hr guy for the Rays for what, $7M? You know who can provide those numbers for 25% of the cost - Johnny Gomes.

i think cano will finish the year with about a .280 average, decent drop from his norm, but is expected with that slow of a start.   the ironic thing is how well he hit in spring training, he looked prety locked in then

    4-for-4 with 3 doubles today, he's fine.

Dugout Central: Pagliarulo: Why Cano is Struggling
Published 5/23/2008 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
Dugout Central: Pagliarulo: Why Cano is Struggling Batting coach Pagliarulau? Considering the injuries to Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez, Cano’s struggles at the plate have really hurt the Yankees. I’d have to be at batting practice to 100% analyze Cano and provide a corrective action plan, but let’s see what we can do by watching from the stands and a few games from television. 1 - Cano tends to get too far spread out with his legs. This prevents him from having full flexibility and the full use of his legs. When he’s spread out he can’t back, and getting back is one of the ...
