Jonathan Papelbon is plotting a slow and stealthy campaign to take over the world, I am fairly certain. First there was the jigging . And the cover of Sports Illustrated . And the numerous talk show appearances . And QVC . And the Closer of the Year award . And the ballroom dance extravaganza . And, of course, the contract squabbles .
Now he's taking over your local Dunkin Donuts.

... Dustin Pedroia should take some lessons from Jonathan Papelbon on acting or do commercials where you don’t have to say anything at all. Here are Papelbon’s new commercials courtesy of our friend Texy over at Center Field. The first one is Papelbon’s Dunkin Donuts commercial and the second one is his Modell’s commercial. ...
"Perhaps You've Seen My Work As Jonathan Papelbon's Ass"
Surviving Grady —
... the commercials are based around all these butt slaps, and (Red Sox manager) Terry Francona would never approve of us slapping his butt as many times as we did.” Honestly, the fact that there's someone out there who got a call from his agent who said, "We need you to be Jonathan Papelbon's ass," is one of the greatest things I've heard in my life. Which tells you perhaps a bit too much about me. You can see the commercial itself, in all its ass-slapping glory, at Centerfield.
Papelbon: Guaranteed butt of this joke
Red Sox Monster —
So I was cruising around the Internet last night when I came upon Jonathan Papelbon's newest commercial for Dunkin' Donuts over at Center Field . It's a funny enough spot, to be sure, and since it's hawking an actual competition where actual Red Sox fans can win actual iced coffee, nectar of the Gods for Red Sox Monster, there's no gripe there. Basically, if I could put iced coffee in my cereal, I would -- but that's for another day. Nay, my gripe was the second part of the story -- the one that proud, soon-to-be Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists at ...

Red Sox News & Notes - 4/7
soxanddawgs.com 4/7/2008 — Tough weekend for the Boston Red Sox as they were swept by the Toronto Blue Jays. The story of the weekend was not return of Josh Beckett yesterday but rather the anemic bullpen, who struggled for the most part. There were a few bright spots in the bullpen, Julian Tavarez, Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon, although the latter two were used to get work in.

Papelbon's Acting Career —
Center Field
The reviews are in... and they're not good.
Playing Siskel & Ebert for the day, Terry Francona and Dustin Pedroia gave an emphatic two thumbs down to Jonathan Papelbon's acting performance in the new Dunkin Donuts commercial .
Terry Francona: I think he stinks as an actor. The good news is: he's a really good pitcher... so we're OK there. Dustin Pedroia: I'm just glad he didn't speak in the ...
Pap pitching —
Extra Bases
Despite the more than two-hour delay, Jonathan Papelbon is on the mound to face Alex Rodriguez, just as he was when the rain delay started.
He's warming up on the mound now, as we get this game underway ... again.
Awaiting word —
Extra Bases
Apparently there is another band of showers coming through, which is why the tarp isn't entirely off the field.
Jonathan Papelbon is warming up in the bullpen, and Kevin Youkilis was throwing on the first base side, but the tarp might be heading back on.
It has been dry for about 20 or so minutes at this point.
Rain delay —
Extra Bases
With Alex Rodriguez at the plate, and two men on base, time was called at 6:22 p.m.
Jonathan Papelbon was coming in to face Rodriguez, after Hideki Okajima had walked Melky Cabrera and allowed a single to Bobby Abreu.
The tarp is now being placed on the field.

All Papelbon, all the time —
Cursed To First - Sox and Pats forever.
Last night I finally got to see two things I've been waiting for: Papelbon pitching at Fenway, and Papelbon's Dunkin' Donuts commercial.
Of course, I didn't get to see his introduction in the eighth inning, which is really the best part. NESN may have shown it, but I was at a friend's house and it got lost in channel-flipping. Also, I forgot to set my TiVo to record on CN8 last night, ...
And, done... —
Extra Bases
That's it. It's all over. Finally.
The Red Sox have taken the rubber match from the Detroit Tigers, 12-6, with Jonathan Papelbon getting the final out of the game after 3 hours, 44 minutes.
Pap up —
Extra Bases
Jonathan Papelbon is now warming in the bullpen with Julian Tavarez struggling on the mound.
Paps Makes Theo Looks Stupid Again —
Bronx Liaison
The Red Sox sure aren't making GM Theo Epstein look very good. Considering the boy genius called out Mike Mussina for voicing his displeasure over an exhibition trip to Japan, the comments Jonathon Papelbon offered during a recent radio interview completely contradict Theo's "bad apple" routine regarding Mussina. Threatening to boycott the Japan trip altogether was one thing, but now comes ...
Boston Herald: Long Road Home —
BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
It’s been pretty ridiculous,” Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon said after his team’s first regular-season game in the eastern time zone.
Believe me, Papelbon isn’t on an island with his opinion. Even before the final out was registered last night, the Sox’ well-worn description of the 19-day road trip as “a business trip” had morphed into downright disgust.

Free coffee and baseball: This is a match made in heaven, from Sarah’s point of view. Two notes: 1. Jose Canseco is worried that he’ll get poisoned via free coffee. 2. BOSTON - Jonathan Papelbon is the Red Sox closer. That should be the answer the next time it is suggested Joba Chamberlain will soon be heading from late-game relief to the Yankee rotation. For Brian Cashman is no more determined to see Chamberlain...
