louismg +1To me, it's incredible to see how one of the league's once-elite receivers can be swapped out for a 4th round pick. How the mighty have fallen!I drafted this guy in the first round of our 2003 fantasy draft! -
Redsauce I too was shocked to see they gave him up for a 4th round pick. I guess his skills are declining? Anyway, it's a good pick-up for the Pats, just gotta hope that Moss doesn't rub off on Merriweather & they both clean up their respective acts. -
RyNoSauce yeah Moss is on the "out" and there is no telling how well he will play this year. Not sure if he remembers what its like playing with a good quarterback.

... The deal is contingent upon Moss passing a physical exam but according to the article, it seems like that is a mere formality. Moss would more than likely restructure his current contract and could receive an extension of it as well. He is set to make $9.75 million this season and $11.25 million next year.

I think it’s safe to say the Patriots are having the best offseason of any team in the NFL. After already bringing in Donte Stallworth, Kelley Washington, and Wes Welker to solidfy an inconsistent wide receiver corps, as well as Adalius Thomas at an already strong linebacker spot, the team traded a fourth-round pick and a 2008 first-round pick for WR Randy Moss.

Does Moss fit the Bill?

... Day 2 saw the Raiders making news before any picks were made as it was announced Raiders would receive a 4th round pickand Moss was in New England taking a physical and the Patriots agreed if all went well the Raiders would receive the 110th pick. Hopefully the recent changes in coaching, player trades and draft will bring the Raiders better luck in 2007, but now the world knows Moss is a new England Patriot.
Who Stays and Who Goes at Wide Receiver for the Patriots
Published 2/28/2008 by Brian at Talking NFL
... This one just seems to make too much sense to both sides not to get done. The only question is for how many years. Randy will be 31 at the start of next season, and even superstar receivers like him have a tendency to hit the wall at age 35. Under his old contract with the Raiders, he was scheduled to make $11.25 million in 2008. He’ll take a bit of a discount to stay with the Patriots, but not by much. And the Patriots will splurge a bit to keep him. ...
