Patriots are magazines' early pick to win Super Bowl Links6
The question: Which proved more disappointing last season, the Carolina Panthers or the preseason predictions? Based on the evidence, it's a tough call. The Panthers, of course, finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs. Yet they also were the pick of three magazines to win the Super Bowl while two others had them reaching the game but not winning only Athlon correctly predicting that the ... [link]

Magazines Give No Love to the Panthers
Published 7/2/2007 by Jaxon <info@catscratchreader.com> at Cat Scratch Reader: Front Page Posts
... The sports magazines have issued their preseason divisional winner picks. It seems everyone is still feeling a little stung by last seasons’ failure to live up to the high expectations. I see the failure more to do with injuries and poor play-calling than a drop in talent. Most people agree the Panthers only helped themselves in the off-season so why is there no love? It probably has more to do with the emergence of the Saints than the Panthers failure. As I’ve posted before this team was only a couple plays from making the playoffs. If the injury bug stays away then I think the Panthers will battle the Saints to the division championship. I know the Saints will not sneak up on anyone this year. Remember we all thought that after Gruden won the championship with the Bucs that they would dominant the division for years. How did that turn out? I predict I similar dip for the Saints thi ...

Mid-Weak Ender

... Four out of five preseason publications are picking the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, causing Tom Brady to go into a fit of rage for being disrespected by Lindy’s. Obviously many of these publications were put together prior to the Chargers replacing Marty Schottenheimer with Norv Turner. There is no way all of these publications would pick the Chargers to win the AFC West with Turner as coach.

No Preseason Magzine Picks Eagles to Reach Super Bowl
Published 7/4/2007 by Sean Portnoy at Eagles Eye
... USA Today has looked through the various preseason guides to the upcoming NFL season, none of which has the Eagles as the NFC representative in the Super Bowl. As you might expect, four of these five mags have the Patriots winning Super Bowl XLII; the other has the Ravens winning it all. The Saints are the NFC Super Bowl loser in three of the guides, and the Cowboys are the pick in the other two. Three of the five (Lindy’s, Pro Football Weekly, Street and Smith’s) do have the Eagles winning the NFC East, with the other two picking the Cowboys. Of course, all this may be a good thing, as only one magazine last year correctly picked the Colts to win Super Bowl XLI—with three of them picking the Panthers to win the championship, and the other two predicting Carolina would be the NFC reps. The Panthers finished 8-8, and the other team picked to w ...

2007 NFL Preview – Should We Just Crown the Patriots Now?

... Today we begin the 2007 season preview, and I pose the above question not simply because I’m an obnoxious Patriots fan (and proud of it!), but because that’s how every football expert out there appears to be thinking. Take a look for yourselves at these predictions for Super Bowl XLII (care of USA Today): ...

The Bizarre Tale of Corey Simon

We all pretty much know how the story of Corey Simon started. Right here in Philadelphia when the Eagles picked him with the #6 overall pick in in the 2000 draft. In his first year he broke the Eagles' rookie sack record with 9.5 and despite not reaching that number again, he still put up 32 sacks in his first 5 years as an Eagle. A very impressive number for a DT. Then the problems started...
