Wes Welker helped New England pull away from the determined Eagles.
They were division champions before the game. They led before their offense took the field. Then something funny happened to the Pats on the way to 11-0: A 24-point 'dog gave them a game.

... with three minutes to go. If I'm the Patriots, I am deathly scared of the rest of the season. They have feasted on mostly inferior teams, but they've shown themselves vulnerable to their ego. They refuse to run the ball anymore, and even though they throw it extremely well, that kind of one dimensional gameplan will hopefully be their downfall. There's only one player I can even stand on that team, to speak nothing of the coaching staff. Down with the Patriots. Samuel beats Eagles [ESPN.com] Photo: Broad Street Believers ...

... the field, so I've given him a bit of a pass for now. Back to my point. While I don't think the Chargers will win this game, to say that the Patriots can't be beaten and say that a team shouldn't even show up to play is just moronic. Have the Pats lost this year? Eagles give Patriots their slimmest victory of the year
allphiladelphiasports.com 11/26/2007 — Although this one was a heartbreaker, I wanted to give the headline a positive spin. The Eagles were the biggest underdog in NFL history and they take perhaps the best team in NFL history down to the wire. Other than the Colts (who lost to the Patriots by 4), no team has lost to the Patriots by less than 17 points this year. Unfortunately there are no moral victories in the NFL.
