PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Roger Rubin here and I bring you tidings of great joy from Tradition Field. Pedro Martinez pitched to hitters in an extended spring training game tonight and could be fast-tracked back to the majors.
The three-time Cy Young Award winner has been on the disabled list since injuring his left hamstring during his first start of the season on April 1 at Florida. In pitching 4-1/3 innings against St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguers, he said he never felt pain or discomfort.
