Penguins release pre-season schedule, regular season highlights

The Penguins released their pre-season schedule today for the 2008-2009 season. It is;
Saturday, Sept. 20 - Home vs. Tampa Bay, 7:30PM
Monday, Sept. 22 - Away at Tampa Bay, 7:30PM
Wednesday, Sept. 24 - Home vs. Toronto, 7:30PM
Friday, Sept. 26th - Away at Toronto, 7:30PM
Thursday, Oct. 2nd - Away at Jokerit (Finland), 11:30AM (Pittsburgh time)
Other tidbits;
Training camp opens Sept. 16th
The Pens and Ottawa Senators open the regular season with two games in Stockholm, Sweden on Oct. 4th and 5th.
Home opener is Sat., Oct. 11th vs. the Devils at 7:30PM.

Jeez, I work a long day and a lot of news breaks. So much to catch up on, so little time. First, the big secret was revealed today that the 2009 Winter Classic would be between the Red Wings and Blackhawks at Wrigley Field. Everyone's known this for weeks, but the league had to wait to make it official on the biggest non-sports news day of the year as well as in conjunction with the upcoming Blackhawks fan convention this weekend. The complete schedule will be released later today, but just to get up to date, here's what we know now. The Penguins will open the season in Sweden with two games against the Ottawa Senators, October 4th and 5th. The New Jersey Devils will be in town on October 11th for the Mellon Arena's home opener.
