Petition to Get Ichiro in the Home Run Derby
You may not know, if you’ve never seen the Mariners take batting practice, is that Ichiro can also be a home run machine. In BP, he’s been known to hit ten or twelve balls in a row into the right field seats, amazing fans and teammates alike. In the past, he’s turned down offers by MLB to participate in the home run derby, but this year, he said recently, he’d consider participating if he’s asked. [link]

Ichiro is great.  A showman and a real player.  Don't forget the in the park homer he hit at last year's All-Star Game.  Ken Griffey won't forget.

... from a division rival. I will continue to watch Adam Lind evolve and excite, I will watch hoping for a glimpse at John MacDonald donning his cap and turning into Johnny Mac. I will watch Brandon League throw gas without too much thought as to where it's going. I will pontificate about batting orders. I will dick joke at the expense of management. I will sign petitions to get Ichiro into the Home Run Derby. I will steal expensive seats on a Friday night and boo those who start the wave. ...

The BALCO Memorial takes place tonight at the Stadium and there almost was a very interesting participant – Ichiro . Ichiro 2008
Initially this was going to be a post about the fact that Ichiro was entering this year’s Home Run derby. Simon found an article reporting as much , but now that idea has been refuted. It’s too bad because it would have given me a reason to watch for more than five minutes. According to Simon’s piece Ichiro claims he could hit 40 home runs per year, but that it would drag ...
Ichiro says No to the Home Run Derby :(
It would've been killer to have Ichiro in the Home Run Derby this year, but if the MLB keeps on asking each year, one year Ichiro will end up participating.... Ichiro thinking about the Home Run Derby

Especially during batting practice. There has been a whole lot of talk of Ichiro hitting in the home run derby, but he has either politely declined or hasn't been asked to. This time he says he's willing to, straight from ...
