Phil Jackson's Postgame 'Brokeback Mountain' Comments Get NBA's Attention, Chuckle From Fans
No surprise here that the NBA doesn't like these comments....but they are hilarious nonetheless. Thank you Phil Jackson. But really, would there be any attention to this if Phil said, "Well, that game was like a Peter North movie, the other team was shooting bucket after bucket and our team was just taking it in the face." Well, maybe.

Bowen outscores KobeJackson Calls it a 'Brokeback Mountain' Game
San Antonio Spurs Dynasty — ... Pop's comment after the game: "[Bruce's] effort tonight was no different than any other night," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "It's not like he just turns it on for Kobe or this guy or that guy. He does it every night he steps on the court because he's a pro."Bruce scored 23 last night -- that's three more points than he had scored in the last seven games combined! So I'd say, Pop, actually, Bruce's effort was decidely different last night. Btw, what the fuck was Phil Jackson thinking last night? The Spurs made 13 3-pointers in ...

Penetrating the Lakers Over and Over Until We Came... Up With a Huge Win
San Antonio Spurs Dynasty — ... His "Brokeback" comment was not only a lame attempt at gallows humor but it also made no sense. It was fake and scripted. "We" call this a Brokeback game, Phil? Who's we? You and your coaches? The movie is only two years old. What the hell did you call a game like this in 2001? A Pulp Fiction Game? A Deliverance Game? Are you calling the Spurs gay cowboys for "penetrating" your defense or your team gay cowboys for taking it and asking for more? Furthermore, what does passing or "kicking" have to do with gay sex? I admit I'm pretty uneducated on the subject, but I watched ...

Hopefully, Heath Ledger will now continue to attend games

The league certainly didn't like it and let the coach know of their displeasure. As Phil told ESPN in a pregame interview, he understands why they weren't amused."I wanted to thank all the journalists and TV people who thought it was humorous last night in the moment for their support and laughing. But in retrospect, it wasn't really funny. When you take ...

2007-08 NBA Worsties: Part 1
Basketbawful — ... . After a mid-November loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Jackson said: "We call this a 'Brokeback Mountain' game, because there's so much penetration and kickouts. It was one of those games." The NBA didn't find the joke funny and reprimanded Jackson, who responded with the following incredibly sincere apology.
