It's good to see Lidge back on his feet after such a rough time in Houston.  The Phillies will probably be kicking themselves in another year though - if he gets rocked 1-2 times in a row, he's done.

Breaking News: Phils Sign Lidge Through 2011
Published 7/6/2008 by Tim Malcolm at Phillies Nation
The Phillies have signed closer Brad Lidge to a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension. He’s a Phillie until 2011 and has a 2012 club option, along with performance incentives. Lidge is 2-0 with a 0.77 ERA and 19 saves in 19 chances this season for the Phils. In his short time here, he has rejuvenated his career and has become one of the the most dominant closers in Major League Baseball. A fantastic signing, and good on them to get it done now. It really opens a lot of questions, mainly about Brett Myers and his future status with the Phils, but that’s for future talk. Today let’s celebrate what Lidge has given the Phils and the fact he’ll be putting ...

Phils Extend Brad Lidge with 3-Year Deal
Published 7/6/2008 by Matt P at The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae
Now here's some great news, Phillies fans. The team has inked closer Brad Lidge to a 3-year extension worth $37.5 million. Lidge has been lights-out, closing everything that's come his way through the first half of the season and anchoring the NL's best bullpen. His off-season acquisition for Michael Bourn et al may go down as the best move of Pat Gillick's tenure in Philly, as it helped to transform the late-inning arms into one of the team's greatest strengths. ...

Lidge Signs on for at Least Three More Tours in Philly
Published 7/6/2008 by Doc at Balls, Sticks, & Stuff | Phillies, Eagles, golf and other matters of great importance...
The Phillies must have read my post earlier today about the value of pitchers with good strikeout to walk ratios , because they just announced a contract extension with Brad Lidge [link: Phillies, Lidge agree to extension | Phillies.com: News ]: Brad Lidge will be saving games in Philadelphia through at least the 2011 season, after the pitcher agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension. The deal includes a 2012 club option and performance incentives. The deal seems like a lot of money, but it's roughly the going rate for elite closers and can you name one that has been better this year than Lidge?

Phillies Extend Lidge

Phillies Extend Lidge July 6th, 2008 Posted in Philadelphia Phillies , MLB Phillies.com : Brad Lidge will be saving games in Philadelphia through at least the 2011 season, after the pitcher agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension. The deal includes a 2012 club option and performance incentives. Say what you will about the Phillies’ front office, but this is perfect. Lidge is obviously the best closer in the National League, and he’s locked up before the end of July, when teams would go into a bit of a panic mode and tempt the Phillies to make a deal, potentially thinking they could slide Brett Myers back into the closer’s role in Lidge’s spot. Lidge’s contract ...
