Phils win wild one in 10 on Burrell blast
Brian Wilson's first five pitches hummed in to Pat Burrell at 98, 97, 97, 97 and 97 miles per hour. The Giants closer's sixth one likely traveled much faster, just in the opposite direction, as Burrell sent a 3-2 pitch deep to left field for a two-run homer, giving the Phillies a dramatic come-from-behind 6-5 win at Citizens Bank Park. Dramatic Rallies Are Hot
Published 5/3/2008 by Sooze at Babes Love Baseball
This photo of Pat Burrell's rear, meant mostly to make Melissa's day, was snapped after the Philadelphia Phillies tough-as-nails left fielder smashed a 3-2 pitch from San Francisco Giants righty Brian Wilson into the left-field seats with two out in the bottom of the tenth Friday night for the game-winner. After 5 upper-nineties fastballs whizzed by The Bat, he took the sixth one deep for his ninth homer of the season. This marks Burrell’s third career walk off, and first since 2002. Phillies prospect’s career in jeopardy

Philadelphia Phillies’ pitcher Scott Mathieson’s career may be over before it fully gets started. The 24-year old prospect is contemplating a second Tommy John surgery. In the 2006 season, Mathieson made his debut at Citizens Bank Park and just like that Phillies fans had high hopes like Harry Kalas would say. His numbers weren’t outstanding, actually not even that good, but he had moments where

The Phillies Go Green in Big Way
We missed this last week when the Phils wore green hats for a game, but the organization has taken some of the most impressive steps among any franchise in sports in terms of offsetting their carbon footprint. The Giants and Phillies certainly gave the fans at Some Bank Ballpark (yes, I know it's Citizens) their money's worth. The first two games went extra innings, and today's game was won in the bottom of the ninth. Yabu walked...
Showdown of the Young Guns
Fans headed to Citizens Bank Park this afternoon should be in for a great game, with Phillies ace/ninja Cole Hamels taking the mound against Giants phenom-fireballer Tim Lincecum. A diminutive pitcher a la Roy Oswalt, Linc is listed at 5'11, but that might be in his cleats. Kid's got a cannon though, and he can put some K's on the board. .flickr-photo { border: solid 2px #000000; ...
Game chat: Right-handers clash in Philadelphia
The Phillies go for their third consecutive series win when Matt Cain (1-2, 4.41) squares off with Brett Myers (2-2, 5.11) tonight at Citizens Bank Park. Game time is 7:05 ET. Preview: Myers doesn’t want to long toss, which is fine, as long as he can handle the 60 feet, 6 inches to home plate. Too bad it’s been a bit of a problem. Myers hasn’t been clocked far above 90 this season and was ...
Your Moment of Weekend Zen
Here's a snapshot from Citizens Bank Park last night. It's the aftermath of Pedro Feliz' home run in the fourth inning. I'd have shared a photo of Pat Burrell's walkoff tater tot if I hadn't already left the game to attend a beer-and-cake party. Whoops! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, WoWies.
Magic Carpet Ride
Pat Burrell is on some kind of magic carpet ride. So is Chase Utley. Aaron Rowand tried drafting both of them last night in his first game back at Citizens Bank Park since signing with the Giants, but Burrell shook him off at the end. Pat the Bat is in some kind of groove, hitting for average, power and in the clutch. The only issues I have with his performance last night are minor quibbles ...
