Pirates trade for Jason Michaels The Pirates acquired outfielder Jason Michaels and cash considerations from the Indians today for a player to be named later. To make room for Michaels, Nyjer Morgan was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis. The 32-year-old Michaels was released by Cleveland on Tuesday. I’m not sure I understand this deal. Michaels had struggled this season (.207/.258/.276) and has not productive for a couple of years. Meanwhile, Kevin Thompson has been red-hot in Indy. Of course, Thompson’s success has been fueled by a very high BABIP, so I wouldn’t expect it to continue ...
