Poll: Who Should Close?
Bucs Dugout —
... Cons: Availability limited lately because of injuries; only good lefty in bullpen, so making him a closer would limit situational possibilities; homered against twice Sunday night; may be traded soon anyway ...

Where Have You Gone, Andy Van Slyke? —
Adam LaRoche goes on the disabled list, which is a shame because he's finally been hitting like the guy we traded for two winters ago. His line is currently at .265/.343/.470 and his .390/.472/.805 line in July to go with his 7 homers would probably make him a player of the month candidate if he didn't get hurt and didn't play for the PIrates. In his stead, the Pirates are calling up Brian Bixler. Reaction #1 is of course, "OMG! Jack's getting traded!" The question, though, is who else were we going to call up? Adam LaRoche to DL; Brian Bixler Back
Bucs Dugout —
... The Post-Gazette reports that Adam LaRoche has hit the DL with some sort of torso problem, so Brian Bixler will take his spot on the roster. Doug Mientkiewicz stands to inherit a good chunk of playing time as a result of LaRoche's absence. Let's hope LaRoche isn't out too long--he seems to take months finding his stroke at the beginning of the season, and if he sits out three weeks or something, I'm afraid he may lose it again. ...
Fire up the Rumors.....again
Raise the Jolly Roger —
Following last night's win, Adam LaRoche was placed on the DL. You'll recall he was pulled late in Sunday's game for what was later described to be "back spasms." He didn't play yesterday, and [Dejan] tells us this morning the diagnosis is a "right intercostal strain" which sounds rough according to [Wikipedia]. - The ...
