NBA sets salary cap, mid-level exception and luxury tax

... and $49.5 million ($37.125 million for the Charlotte Bobcats) in 2005-06. This puts the Pistons about 10-11 million below the luxury tax threshold with 10 players under contract and 4-5 roster spots to fill. If you add the MLE it puts the Pistons around 4 million below the tax threshold, which should be plenty of room to fill the roster spots. Of course this doesn't take into consideration that Joe Dumars is looking to make at least one significant trade this summer. Although, as Sherrod Blakely is reporting, Joe Dumars says 'Nothing [is] imminent' .
