Banning the Bloggers
ShysterBall —
You've probably heard by now that Mark Cuban decided to ban bloggers from the Dallas Mavericks locker room. I assume that doesn't include himself. Anyway, Last night True Hoop's Henry Abbot came face-to-face with the policy, with predictably absurd and pathetic results. Everyone talks about how cool it would be for Cuban to buy the Cubs, but examples like this remind us that he's capable of being just as petulant and arrogant as any other owner, so we shouldn't cry that much if and when his ownership bid is rejected.

The bloggers tried to storm the gates at the Lakers-Mavs game despite Mark Cuban's ban on such people.
It didn't work.
Here is the L.A. Times' version (look toward bottom).
Here is True Hoops' version.
I'm starting to wonder when teams and leagues are going to catch on to the fact I'm a blogger masquerading as a newspaper columnist now and keep me away from their locker rooms.

... To make matters worse, Mr. Eggers misfires on the basis of this argument: increasing numbers of bloggers are not, in fact, "sitting at home." Many bloggers are making a concerted effort to "get off the couch" and to obtain press access. With some teams, like the Portland Trail Blazers, bloggers are met with open arms. With others, like the Dallas Mavericks, bloggers are literally met by security guards. So why bother? ...
