This trade is devastating for the Celtics and terrific for the Hornets.  They didn't overpay for Posey, but they gave him the long-term deal that he was probably looking for.

The move may allow New Orleans to take a step closer to the Lakers, in terms of Western Conference supremacy.  We'll see what happens.

Four years is too long. They won't mind this year and maybe next, but the last two years of this deal won't end fast enough for them.

Posey is a great Vet that knows how to win and play his role. He will be fine for the next 4 years or retire if he needs to after 3.

This is a great deal for the Hornets

The James Posey Sweepstakes have a winner
Lakers Blog — Jame Posey made his decision and it doesn't involve the NBA's best two teams. The ultra-coveted pine player has agreed on a deal with the New Orleans Hornets . NBA Noise — ... In a signing that came as somewhat as a surprise, journeyman James Posey has agreed to a 4-year deal with the New Orleans Hornets worth an estimated $25 million. Posey was largely heralded as a key component to the NBA Champion Boston Celtics this past season as he demonstrated his tenacious perimeter defense and a habit of making big shots when it mattered most. I can almost bet that they will try to bring back Tony Allen now but I'm pretty sure he won't be able to replace Posey. On the flip side, this is a big time score for the New Orleans Hornets and they will definitely be an improved team with the addition of Posey. This is ...

Howlin' T-Wolf — ... also seems to alleviate fears he'd fall back into trouble. The only thing I would disagree with WTLC's breakdown is this, $2-$3 million probably isn't enough. Half the teams in the league need a quality C/Energy Guy. If a team signs 31 year old James Posey to the full-midlevel last year I would have to think even in the down economy that the Birdman after his performance in the playoffs is going to get something close. To me this would be a great move by Kahn if he can bring the Birdman into our den for anything less than the full mid-level and even that would still probably be ...

The Posey Decision: One Year Later
Boston Celtics Basketball - Celtics news, rumors and analysis - CelticsHub.com — ... We all miss James Posey. I’d guess that a majority of Celtics fans view Danny Ainge’s decision to bow out of the Posey bidding as a bad one, possibly the worst choice Ainge has made since taking over the C’s basketball operations earlier this decade. Ainge committed to offering Posey only a three-year deal worth the mid-level exception; when New Orleans tacked on a fourth season, Ainge wouldn’t match, and we all wondered whether it was really worth losing a key cog in a championship team over one ...
