ESPN: Trade talk with the Suns about Amare and Shaq involve Detroit Pistons
Full-Court Press —
... he has been seeing from his Detroit Pistons lately. He should be on the phone seeking to shake things up, or at least put out offers to let other GMs know that he's serious about making a trade. Joe can't afford to have the Piston's Eastern Conference rivals making trades like the Celtics made the Summer of 2007 or the Cavaliers made to obtain Mo Williams without trying to also improve the Pistons. Chad Ford puts out some trade scenarios for Amare Stoudemire that he thinks make sense. February 7, ESPN: PISTONS: Amir Johnson and Rasheed Wallace Why they'd do it: Joe Dumars has ...
Playing Around with Miami's Trade Options
Miami Sports Generation —
So I just stumbled upon this awesome tool ESPN has on their website called "Trade Machine." It simulates all possible trades that can be made in the NBA, by taking into account multiple teams' salary caps, roster space, and other factors in order to determine whether a trade is possible or not. As a result of playing with this cool gadget I tried some interesting trade scenarios that the Miami Heat could consider (although most are not likely, it's still enjoyable to imagine). ...
Suns, Cap Space, and Trade Scenarios
Fanster.com —
Yikes.
I’m not sure what to think of this article by Chad Ford for a few reasons;
1. This confirms much of what I said in a previous post I wrote with the teams interested (Portland, Memphis, Dallas) but there are a few new ones as rumors (Lakers, Heat, Cleveland). This really could be a supernova - the Sun may be blown up.
2. Even though it’s not necessarily the case, I hear “clearing cap space” and I immediately freak out. Is this really the end?
3. I just woke up.
4. Obviously, to get to 40 million cleared, the salaries would be Amare and Shaq (most likely).
5. Whoever we ...

Amare Stoudemire Trade Rumors
Depressed Fan —
According to various reports, the Suns' interest in trading Amare Stoudemire is legit and most think he will be moved in the next 12 days before the deadline. ESPN's Chad Ford has a column up on potential deals for Amare (and Shaq). After the jump we'll take a look and try to figure out if the Sixers could offer a better deal.
Here a few deals Ford put together for Amare: Chicago gives Tyrus Thomas, Thabo Sefolosha, Cedric Simmons, Drew Gooden for Amare. New York gives David Lee, Nate Robinson and Stephon Marbury for Stoudemire and Barbosa. Miami gives Michael Beasley and Shawn Marion for Stoudemire, Alando ...
ESPN tells us how Lakers could land Shaq in trade
The Lakers Nation —
And here… we… go…
ESPN: Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm and D.J. Mbenga
Why they’d do it: Yes, the breakup between the Lakers and Shaq was messy. But Phil Jackson has always loved Shaq, and with Andrew Bynum out for a while, L.A. could use someone who could step in and play immediately in the middle. Besides, it would be the best story of the year.
The Suns need cap space, and this deal would save them a whopping $21 million next year after all the expiring contracts in the deal come off the books
Why they wouldn’t: The Shaq-Kobe ...

... 19/15 night against the Warriors.
"I definitely want to stay, " he said with conviction. "This is my foundation, but you know, it is business. I'm gonna do what's best for myself and I'm pretty sure the Suns are going to to do what's best for the organization from a financial standpoint. Whatever happens, happens." [...]
"If it was my last game, then I think I went out with a pretty good bang."

The Saturday Love Fest
The Love of Sports —
Talking about the whole steroids issue isn’t something we tend to do very often here at The Love of Sports, but today’s revelations and rumors are just too important to skip over.
Sports Illustrated is reporting multiple sources have confirmed that Alex Rodriguez was among the over one hundred Major League players who tested positive for steroids during the 2003 baseball season. At the time, positive tests were not penalized and the results were meant to be kept anonymous, but search warrants issued in the BALCO case have made numerous names known.
Now, as stated in the previous paragraph, Rodriguez was one of over one hundred players ...

... One team you should keep an eye on though, is Cleveland. In exploring some potential trades for Amare, Chad Ford throws out a proposal that would send Wally Szczerbiak and J.J. Hickson to Phoenix for Amare. If you recall, Prada proposed an idea in the ...
Heard It Through the Weekend Grapevine 12-7 and 12-8-09
The Two Man Game —
Chad Ford investigates ways to solve the nice little abomination they have going in Phoenix, and among the myriad of solutions he offers is a Kidd-Shaq swap. The idea hinges primarily on Jason Terry being able to play the point and well, and well, that doesn’t seem like much of an option right now.
Tim MacMahon with a friendly reminder that Dirk is clutchy-clutch-clutch. He scored 14 points in overtime, after learning that the team’s second best player would be missing some time.
Mavs Moneyball has the postgame transcripts from the Bulls game. Praise for Kidd, lament for Terry, awe at Dirk’s finish, and high ...
The Real Reason to Trade for Amare
3 Shades of Blue —
It is obviously no big secret that Phoenix Suns' big man Amar'e Stoudemire is on the trade block. It is even less of a secret that Memphis Grizzlies fans are all over acquiring him like white on rice in a glass of milk in the midst of a blizzard. A quick look at the Grizzlies official message boards shows a 20+ page thread that hasn't lost any steam since it started. Chad Ford nearly broke ESPN's Trade Machine with his column over the weekend looking at all the potential destinations for the All-Star power forward.

NBA Trade Rumors: Amare Stoudemire
WaitingForNextYear —
[image] With the NBA trade deadline looming, yesterday’s loss to Los Angeles exposed the glaring weakness that the Cavaliers have in the paint. Sure, we all knew that the depth there was not great. But when those that you do have get abused by a 30-year old Lamar Odom, eyebrows have to raise a little higher than they once were. Enter ESPN’s Chad Ford … Potential Trades for Amare Stoudemire: CAVS: J.J. Hickson and Wally Szczerbiak Why they’d do it: The Cavs have been trying to land another star in Cleveland to play alongside LeBron James. Stoudemire would be a grand slam for them. The Suns would get back $13 million in cap relief and land a young power ...
Talking Amare With Valley Of The Suns
Depressed Fan —
In keeping with a tradition I started a while back, I thought it was about time we got the other side's point of view on a potential trade. We've been talking about the Amare Stoudemire situation in the comments here since the news broke that Phoenix was looking to move him. Michael Schwartz from Valley of the Suns was nice enough to answer a few questions about a trade proposal I concocted, what he thinks the Suns should be looking for in a Stoudemire deal and Amare's performance vs. the perception thereof.
Depressed Fan: In your post you said you wanted the Suns to get a young big back in any
deal sending Amare out. Is it ...

Men: Don’t forget the Slam Dunk Competition Valentine’s Day is just, uh, let’s see… five days away. And no, don’t email me asking for ideas. Because I don’t have any either.
The Root on Kevin Durant: “Pardon the cliché; but change has come to Durant’s game. It arrived around the time that final appointees for cabinet positions were announced. In December, Durant mounted an impressive stat line: 25.1 points and 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 6.5 free throw attempts per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from behind the arc. Then in January, he showed it was no fluke, notching 27.8 ...
Suns trading everyone. Please stop the nonsense
Fanster.com —
This idea that now everything is possible and the Suns could trade anyone except maybe Steve Nash (not so sure) and the Gorilla is a nonsense.
Trading Amare won’t give the Suns a chance to win the title. It could only give Robert Sarver a chance to save some money. So it could happen, I guess.
All the proposed deals for Stoudemire won’t give the Suns equal value, so I believe it’s not worthy to trade the big man. I have never been one of Amaré’s biggest fan, but you won’t trade one of the best power forwards in the game, an All Star, for two or three average players at best.
Trade Shaquille maybe. ...
