Week in Review: Mavs still have lots to prove
Dallas Mavericks — With most teams now having completed at least 20 games, the NBA season is now past the quarter-mile mark in the long, 82-game regular season marathon.  So far we the fans have learned a couple of things: the Spurs are still the team to beat, the Celtics’ new Big-3 can play together and do it very, very well, Dwight Howard is now the NBA’s most dominant big man (yes, even over Yao Ming), and his team is pretty good too.  Other surprises like the Lakers, Warriors and Hornets are all proving to be legitimate playoff teams in the West, while teams like the Pacers, Hawks and Bucks are better than advertised in the East. But as far as ...

Power Rankings: December 10
Blazers Blog — Monday is NBA Power Rankings day. Enjoy. Marc Stein throws together ESPN's power rankings, and this week he puts the Blazers at No. 20 , seven spots better than last week. It's not enough to make people forget that Oden will miss his entire rookie season, but Aldridge has certainly responded. He's racked up six double-doubles already, compared to just five in 63 games as a rook. Marty Burns does the dirty work for Sports Illustrated, and this week he bumped the ...

This is so much better than last season...
CelticsBlog — It's Monday, which means it's time for our weekly dose of power rankings. ESPN has us sitting in third (boo! hiss!), behind San Antonio and Orlando. Marc Stein's reasoning: 1. San Antonio Spurs (17-2): Only Pop could greet a start like this with caution and/or indifference like this: ''We've had bad starts in the past, we've had good starts in the past and neither one is indicative of whether we won a championship.'' 2. Orlando Magic (16-5): Before its first "bad" L of the season -- and losing at home to the Pacers isn't exactly heinous with how they're playing -- Orlando racked up another impressive road W at Golden State. So it's only a ...

Pollard Hearts Gino
RedsArmy.com - The Voice Of Celtics Fans — It’s party time at the Garden when Gino comes out to dance.  I know it.  You know it… and because he’s been spending so much time on the bench lately…. Scot Pollard knows it: “You know what? I gladly defer to Gino because that guy is awesome,” said Pollard. “He is one of the ...

Week in Review: Mavs still have lots to prove
mvn.com 12/10/2007 — The first quarter of the NBA season is now complete, and the Dallas Mavericks aren't yet looking like the same team that went to the Finals in 2006 and won 67 games last year. But it's not time to panic yet, there's still plenty of basketball to be played. Optimism is still high. Here's a look at how the Mavs did last week.
