wec-logo1.jpg WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit has signed an extension with the Zuffa -owned fight promotion, according to a report by USAToday.com . Condit revealed the news during Saturday’s UWC show in Washington D.C.-area that was headlined by Pete Spratt’s decisive victory over Jason Von Flue in a welterweight clash. Nicknamed the “Natural Born Killer,” Condit is undefeated in four career fights in the WEC and is 22-4 overall in his MMA career. His most recent fight was a first round submission over Carlo Prater during the WEC’s February show in Albuquerque, N.M. Condit, one of the most underrated 170 pound fighters in the world, holds career victories over the likes of Frank Trigg , Renato “Charuto” Verrisimo , Ross Ebanez , and John Alessio . Report: Mauricio Rua could return by October April 28, 2008 By: Sam Caplan Category: Mauricio Rua USA Today caught up with injured UFC light heavyweight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua during this past Saturday’s UWC event in the Washington D.C.-area. According to writer Sergio Non, Rua indicated to him that he believes he will be fully recovered from his ACL surgery by either October or November. Rua had been scheduled to fight Chuck Liddell at UFC 85 in London this June, but he had to bow out after aggravating the injury. Rashad Evans was tapped as a replacement against Liddell but Liddell recently pulled out of the fight due to a hamstring injury. Rua believes that a fight between he and Liddell will happen before year’s end.

World Extreme Cagefighting Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit (22-4) has signed a contract extension with the WEC according to USA Today. Condit had just one fight remaining on his previous contract with the promotion, which is owned by the same parent company as the UFC. Terms of the extension were not disclosed. Condit has emerged as one of the top welterweights in the world with notable career wins over Frank Trigg and Renato Verissimo. He has not lost a single fight since mid-2006, winning all seven fights over the near-two year span. After defeating Kyle Jensen in his WEC debut last January, Condit defeated John Alessio to claim the welterweight title at WEC 26.
