Published 7/5/2008 by Sooze (noreply@blogger.com) at Babes Love Baseball
... nailed his 300th career homer on Friday during the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 loss to the rival Chicago Cubs. The slugging first baseman ruined the shutout with his 18th homer of the season, nicking the left-field foul pole on a 2-2 pitch from reliever Bob Howry in the eighth. Pujols, 28 years and 170 days old, is the fifth-youngest player to reach the 300-homer milestone, beating out Hall of Famer Mel Ott by one day.
