The “Lady In Black” will test the field like no other. It’s funny, I used to think the short tracks were the most challenging, and that the road courses provided unique hurdles of their own. While that’s still true, Darlington has zoomed to the top of my list as NASCAR’s most difficult track. Because of that, [...]Darlington is still Darlington, Kyle Busch is still Kyle Busch

What can you say about a driver who does everything “wrong,” has a few bad things such as penalties and lost lug nuts happen to him, literally wrecks his car, and still wins the race? That must be one heckuva driver. Most fans, like him or not, agree that Kyle Busch is just that. His problem, they say, is his attitude. His attitude is that he doesn’t care what happens to ...Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly At Darlington

Tonight's race at Darlington was a great way to get to know Kyle Busch . If someone who had only a cursory knowledge of NASCAR and it's drivers, tuned in to the race Saturday night, they would have had the privilege of seeing every facet of Kyle Busch's racing persona.Dodge Challenger 500 Live Blog

This is one of those occasions where a Saturday Sprint Cup race brings SPEED's RaceDay to viewers in the late afternoon. It should be a beautiful day in Darlington, SC as the program takes to-the-air at 5PM Eastern Time. John Roberts leads the two live hours that TDP has referred to as the Super Wal-Mart of NASCAR. Two hours is plenty of time to wander the RaceDay aisles and find something ...Flirtin' with disaster

There is a reason Jeff Gordon has seven wins at Darlington. Of all of the tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup curcuit, Darlington is probably the one that requires the most overall skill by the driver, and say what you will about Jeff, but he can finnesse just about any aspect of racing. Because it is a high speed track--1.36 miles with 23-25 degree banking in the turns--it fits into the ...Darlington Proving To Be "Too Tough To Tame"

My post from yesterday talking about rookies earning their "Darlington Stripes" foreshadowed things to come for today as many drivers, veterans and rookies, earned their stripes today if they hadn't all ready. Some even earned more than one like Robby Gordon, who not only wrecked his primary car, but his back-up too. Oh, and here is a good indication that the new track isn't like the old ...Darlington claims its victims in Friday practice

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- The recently repaved Darlington Raceway proved to be just as tough on machinery as its former incarnation. No fewer than four drivers were forced to backup cars after incidents in Friday's two practice sessions, including defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson. Johnson had just turned his quickest laps of the early session when he lost control of his No. 48 Chevrolet and hit ...Rookies Are Earning Their Darlington Stripes

With the Darlington race this weekend there have been quite a few rookies earning their 'stripes' early in practice. Those who have earned their stripe include; JJ Yeley, Patrick Carpentier, and Sam Hornish. "I was lost," Carpentier said. The nice long day of NASCAR programming on Friday will conclude with Dale Earnhardt Jr. making an appearance at the SPEED Stage on " Trackside ." Just a quick note before the email piles up too high. Marty Smith's liveshot from Darlington on Thursday's NASCAR Now was interrupted by the cars taking to the track for practice. As mentioned by host Ryan Burr, the shot was live and the ESPN crew was unable to change their location. Unfortunately, Smith was almost drowned-out by the cars, but both he and Burr tried their best to make it ...The Daily Dose: Rowdy, meet 'The Lady'

I was reading somewhere on the Internet where a writer referred to Darlington Raceway as a relic of NASCAR history. I found it an odd choice of words, especially since the word "relic" is often used as a not-so flattering reference by those born since the end of the Vietnam War. Darlington does, however, qualify as a relic according to the Webster Dictionary definition: "An ...Darlington Preview

In most years Darlington is one of the most baffling tracks to figure out. Teams and drivers struggle with a good setup and by the time they figure it out, their tires are already worn out. The simple reason is that Darlington was such a unique track. The way the surface ate up tires made it extremely challenging and there wasn’t really an apt comparison found on the Cup circuit. This ...Darlington "In The Dark" On Thursday
